Nice but would like it to light up
I had that exact thermometer and it worked for years but then had to be replaced. The new one works but it always shows 4 to 5 degrees higher. The old one was always correct. I have a regular thermometer about 1 foot from it so I know the temperature.
Unit does not have a white background as shown in catalogue. The background is gray making it difficult to read the black numbers. Not enough contrast. I need to be very close to be able to read it. Thank you for this replacement unit, but it is the same as last one. No need for any action on your part. Thank you.
After having this AcuRite Wireless Temperature Trend Indoor
Update 9/16 1 week before the 1 year warranty is up the outside unit stopped working. After trying the simple things like new batteries and resynching, I decided it was time to contact acurite to see how to get a replacement, under warranty of course. I called first on a Weds afternoon (only available M-F 8-5) and I was put in a que at position 27! After about 15 mins on hold my spot in the que had not changed, so I took advantage of the offer to leave my callback number and they would call me when my turn in the que was up. Well by the time I went to bed I hadn't gotten a call back. So Thursday morning I made sure to call right at 8 am and I was already 17th in the que! I was on hold for 90 minutes and had only moved to spot 14 in the que!! I again tried leaving my callback number, and again, never heard back. The only way to contact is by telephone and I just do not have the time to wait for hours on hold. I will never again waste my money on not only a product of poor quality, but a company who doesn't stand behind their product. Do not buy this piece of junk or anything else from this company. Seems to work ok so far. Easy to sync the two units. My biggest gripe and the reason for 3 star rating is the screen is not very bright and makes it hard to see in our living room. I'm not an eighty year old with failing vision either. We had a digital thermometer by a different company and the screen was much easier to read. The picture on Amazon is misleading. It's almost like there is not enough contrast between the back and the numbers. The background is dark and so are the numbers. Update: So after a few months with this I have noticed that once in a while the indoor temp. reading will get "stuck" and not change at all. Usually lasts about 8-10 hours before it corrects itself. I can tell because I have another thermometer in the room and that one works fine. Pretty annoying. I can not recommend this product, too many other options that seem to work better.
