Hands down the best peanut butter out there. Tastes like actual peanuts and not plastic like other brands out there.
Best peanut butter we've tasted, switched to the bigger jars, they're more economical.
I'm on AutoShip subscription for this to be sent to my dad‘s house. This is the only peanut butter he will eat.
We buy only Adams Peanut Butter for our dogs. We fill former marrow bones with Adams PB and give them to our Bernese Mt Dogs as desert after their meals. We love it as it's made with non-GMO, Kosher, Organic peanuts and only a tiny bit of salt, with no sugar. So many companies add sugars to their PB and, as a vet tech, I can tell you that a sweetener called Xylitol, which is added to many foods like PB, is unhealthy for our beloved dogs, as it can cause hypoglycemia, liver problems, even seizures in dogs. If you love peanut butter and so do your dogs, do yourself a favor and buy only Adams. It tastes really yummy and gets two paws up from our Emma and Charlie!
I am 63 & have eaten Adam's since I was a child. Love it. There is no other peanut butter as far as I am concerned!
I actually got the smooth peanut butter to cook with and haven't used it yet. I know it will be excellent as I've used it before and use the crunchy every day. Enjoy
I have been enjoying Adams and Laura Scudder's Peanut Butters for over 50 years. They are high quality, nutritious, all natural, and have only a few ingredients, just the way I want it. Peanuts and Salt - that's all. Sure, I have to stir it, but that is part of the experience and fun.
I won't buy any peanut butter except Adams. The listed ingredients are "peanuts." With separated peanut oil, it allows pouring off some oil to adjust the texture of the peanut butter to your liking. While peanut oil is good, olive oil may be better which can be added in place of some or all of the peanut oil if desired.
Very good peanut butter, only complaint is that the lids for the 36oz Adams jars often do not seat correctly during manufacturing (probably about 1/4 of jars in my experience), so the jar may leak oil which makes it hard to deal with and store cleanly. Otherwise, every bit as good as Smuckers All-Natural and a good bargain at this size :)
This review is actually (also) for the Adams 100% Natural Crunchy and to a lesser extent for the Natural Creamy peanut butter, because I usually buy the Crunchy version to which I have a subscription at Smuckers. I love the fact that it is indeed (I hope) 100% peanuts with only a little bit of salt; no added fats etc. The taste is very good. I would have given this 5 iso 4 stars but there are some points for improvement: 1. Packaging (and shipping) is not good. The lids are not screwed on tight and it has often happened that the bottles arrive all oily because of oil spills. I don't mind the peanut oil itself (it's a sign that's it doesn't have these hydrogenated fats or palm oil). I myself simply pour it into a larger container in which I collect all peanut oil over time, to be used eventually for frying purposes (I read somewhere that peanut oil is very stable and good for frying). I have even received broken bottles a few times. 2. The lids on the 36oz glass bottles rust very fast, which is a pity because it is good that the PB is packed in glass bottles which can be re-used (I use them for storing self-made jam), but then the lid gets rusty so fast. 3. The salt seems to "sink" to the bottom of the jar (or is it a matter of how you load the bottles?). This results in kinda bland tasting peanut butter on top, with lots of peanuts, and a more solid mass of salty peanut butter in the lower part of the bottle. One therefore *has to* mix the content, which is sort of a job in itself for each bottle of 36 oz. I would not want it different though, I do like the fact that I can pour out the oil, so please don't go find ways to mix it better if that results in keeping the oil dispersed throughout the PB! Smuckers does provide "mixers" which is a good idea but they are too short so you hardly reach the bottom of the jar, and also of that mixer the lid that comes with it is of poor quality. So concrete suggestion: Make the "mixer" longer and the lid better and ship it with large order of e.g. 6 or more bottles as a gift! 4. I miss information on the label and/or website on aflatoxin content and testing. As all peanut butter lovers know, peanut butter can have aflatoxins which is a risk to developing liver diseases, and if you're like me eating PB practically every day in substantial quantities, you really have to consider this risk factor. So it would be good to have that assurance that this peanut butter is properly tested and monitored on its aflatoxin level, and how much that level actually is (allowed level and actual level in this product). Even if it is not legally required to disclose that information, I think that a responsible company like Smuckers should be transparent about that. 5. Finally, it would be good to mention where the peanuts actually come from and how they are planted and harvested. As conscious customers we want to have assurances that the products that we buy abide by human rights' (e.g. no child labor or Indigenous peoples' displacement) and environmental standards (e.g. no plantations for which forests had to be cleared).
