Wow. This truck is cool. Nice size, nice graphics, nice power. All in all, one of the better r/c trucks I've used. My 13 year old Grandson really loves it.

These are Great for the money, Not super fast, but Absolutely fast enough to have ALot of Freaking Fun, bought my kids both orange and blue, now I'm PO'ed because Mom and Me want our own too...And they're all sold out, I promise you as soon as available I'll buy at least 2 more! I don't understand the negative reviews as ours are definitely 5 star on these little trucks are well made and designed to potentially last a while with proper use. You will need to tighten up the wheel's screws after running them hard or maybe lock-tight.

Before using the Adventure Force Rock Runner RC Truck, I read over the reviews to see what others thought about this RC vehicle and most were not good. So, here's my take on this RC Truck. I charged the truck battery for almost 3 hours before using it and installed 4 brand new Duracell batteries in the controller. We took it outside on clean dry pavement and tested the range. I was able to get about 82 feet range between the RC truck and controller! In my opinion that's pretty far for a battery RC vehicle! Next I ran the truck on paved surfaces to see what kind of speed that I could get from it. I don't have a speed gun so I won't say how fast it was going but it didn't seem real fast but I won't complain about the speed. It's fast enough for not been gas powered. Next I ran it through my 2-inch fresh cut grass lawn and although it slowed down a bit it still kept a pretty good pace as it bounced through the grass! Speaking of bouncing. The 4 independent suspensions kept the vehicle pretty stable going fast over uneven surfaces! I also tested it on going over a 4-inch brick and although it did make it over the brick with just the wheels on one side, when I tried to go over the brick with both front or rear wheels it got stuck. This is definitely a fun toy to buy for anyone of any age!

Big RC Truck with lots of off-road capability.

This is a BIG truck, definitely not intended for indoor use. You can see it pictured in front of a 17 inch SUV wheel, to get an idea of the size. The truck comes with TWO rotor engines: one for each axle. While examining the truck before the first run (charging the battery) I was disappointed when I discovered the axles didn't have a differential (to allow a wheel to keep spinning freely even if the other wheel of the axle gets stuck). To me, including a differential on each axle would have given it TRUE 4x4 capabilities. The way it's built, both wheels of the axle move together, so if either left or right wheel of the axle is stuck, both wheels stop rotating, and only the other axle's wheels can continue pushing the vehicle. When actually using the truck, I found out this was really NO ISSUE! The wheels are big enough to clear much common obstacles, and it's really TOUGH to get a wheel stalled. Grass, Gravel, Rocks, Wild Weed ... you name it! this truck gets by with no issues. I managed to get a good 45 minute use-time out of the first charge, and this has remained consistent on following charges. And this has been while abusing the vehicle through ROUGH terrain ... no issues. It's not a super fast vehicle: if you start walking and driving the truck, it will slowly but steadily leave you behind, my guess is 8 or 8.5 MPH. There is no gradual throttle; you either push it forward or you don't, so you have to stop the throttle from time to time for slower speed. Same thing with steering: there is no gradual steer, you either rotate the tires or you don't. Tires will point forward when you release the steering wheel on the remote. The truck has a very low center of gravity, as the engines and battery are all mounted on the lower part of the truck, so the truck is very stable: you will not be able to roll it over just by the action of the steering. However, when crashing fully frontal with an obstacle, this will almost likely result on the truck ending upside down. Since both axles have a rotor, this means steering wheels also push the vehicle, this makes for a very responsive steering, that could be more easily controlled if the remote had a sensitive or gradual steering control, but this is just a switch to make the wheels turn all the way or not. The wheels have some air inside (they are not rigid plastic) and the springs actually work. These two things together with the low weight of the truck make it very bumpy when going over gravel or rocky roads. this makes keeping a straight route a little harder, but entertaining. Remote control range is good for outside, I found no interference issues (however, I have not run this truck next or close to any other Remote Controlled vehicles). IT is a VERY FUN TRUCK and the off-road capabilities together with the good battery life provides a good time. I would consider buying an extra battery pack (if available?) just to be on the safe side.

This radio controlled car is a lot bigger than anticipated. If I were 8 years old, I don't know if I would share in the fun when playing with it. It is a really neat car. The range of control is about 125 feet (approx). As with most RC cars, you have to learn how to use the handset or you will simply crash all the time....even though that can be the most fun. With the bigger wheels, it is not really made for going on grass/lawns, but it can! The wheels are not hard at all. In fact, they are very light and squish-able. This is what allows it to go over all types of terrains. That makes it good for any locations -- alley, park, large parking lot, etc. Do NOT let it go near water. It will damage it and make it inoperable. The car itself does not work straight out of the box. You will have to charge the lithium battery that is inside the car. That is rechargeable through a USB port. The handset has a trigger to go forward and in reverse. It has a wheel to spin left or right -- it is not a fully moveable wheel and does limit steering. The driving handset takes regular batteries, or rechargeable if you have them (they are not included). Additionally, the undercarriage of the car has a setting to make it drive more to the left or more to the right and it can/should be adjusted as needed. The outer shell of the car is thin and made-to-break-plastic. It is NOT metal. The box says made for 8 year and up. In my opinion if you have an easy going child who can control themselves -- and has hand/eye coordination and dexterity, a mature 6 or 7 year old could probably get a good kick out of this and a lot of fun. Overall, I like this RC car. You will have to remember, this is not a true RC car with steering, speed and made to race capabilities. This car is made for kids to have a good time and mess around with. It is not made to last, but is made to have fun. It has been child tested, and they whole-heartedly approved.

Conquering off-road terrain like a boss

My black and yellow Adventure Force Rock Runner is a good looking and fun off-road style truck. It does not have the precision steering capability of more expensive RC trucks but it is a good performer and a great value for a big 1/10 scale vehicle. This remote controlled truck is for outdoor use only - it is too fast and too big for indoor play. It measures 16" long, 10" wide and 7" tall. Being 1/10 scale that would make the its real-life counterpart roughly 13 feet long, 8 feet wide and 6 feet tall (in case anyone is wondering). The truck is mostly plastic but its construction feels sturdy and can take a beating on outdoor courses. I took it over grass, rocks, sand, mulch, hills and concrete bumps and it handled everything like a champ. This truck checks off most of the latest technologies for a RC vehicle such as 2.4 GHz wireless remote control with 160 foot range (that's half a football field), a removable and rechargeable 7.4V Li-poly battery good for up to 40 minutes of run time, 4-wheel drive with working suspension and soft rubber tires. The two handed controller takes 4 AA batteries (not included). It utilizes a push/pull trigger to make the truck go backward/forward. The steering wheel on the side of the remote is used for turning the vehicle left and right. Missing are proportional steering and speed which means there is no variable turn and acceleration. I did not expect these features at this price range and the single speed did not bother me much but the lack of precision steering made it hard to maneuver the vehicle. Charging the battery is my least favorite task. The lid must be removed by removing a mini screw. Luckily, the screw does not come off the lid completely so there is no chance of losing it. The tiny 3-wire plug from the battery that connects to the included USB charge cable is proprietary. I would be a happy customer when I can just plug a standard USB-C cable directly to a port on the truck and charge it. In the end what counts most is how much fun a toy is and in that regard, this off-road RC truck was a blast to drive. Personally, I would spend a little more money to get proportional steering and speed for easier maneuvering but at this price range, the Adventure Force Rock Runner is hard to beat.

Great car - quick, and able to handle many crashes

This car is big - I've attached photos of it in the box, and another next to a men's size 11 shoe, for sake of comparison. It's big - and it's fun! The battery pack allows for a pretty good runtime (it looks like it's essentially two 18650 batteries wired together), and while its fast, if you're using it outside on anything other than smooth terrain, you're not likely to get the 10mph as advertised. We have it mostly on gravel, grass, mulch/dirt, and the like, and it's certainly quick, but 10mph may be pushing it. It's easy to use for all ages. The controller is rather large (perhaps unnecessary large), but even a 5 year old is able to hold it and make it work out well. It can climb hills and logs easily...by and large, it's a fun toy for a wide range of ages - 5 years (with some assistance and supervision) up to young teens. We certainly enjoyed using this - I'd recommend it to others as well.

PACKAGING AND UNBOXING Unboxing this RC truck was fairly easy but did require scissors to cut out at one point. To charge the truck you must pull out the battery, which requires you to remove the battery cover, which has 1 screw. The screwdriver necessary to open the battery compartment is supplied with the truck. The USB cable necessary to charge the battery is supplied as well, but its a non-standard cable which, if you lose, you may have difficulty finding a replacement. You cannot charge the battery without this cable and you cannot use regular batteries on the truck. The remote control is another story. The remote's cover does not have any screws and is fairly easy to remove. The four AA batteries needed are not supplied. I tested mine with a set of four rechargeable batteries. Both the truck and the remote control have an on/off switch. Both must be set to ON to operate the truck. An instruction booklet is included along with a screwdriver. THE REMOTE The remote, as stated before, uses 4 conventional AA batteries which can be regular batteries or rechargeable batteries. This remote is not ambidextrous. It is designed to be held by the left hand. It has a trigger that controls the forward and reverse motion of the truck. On the right side it has a wheel that lets the truck turn left and right. Moving the wheel towards you turns the truck right, while moving it away from you turns it left. I found this configuration somewhat awkward. I would have preferred to have this wheel on the top of the remote. The turn wheel does not allow incremental steering, so moving the wheel completely activates the turn. The acceleration also does not allow any gradual speed, only max acceleration. The remote is very light weight even with the batteries installed. THE TRUCK The truck is a good size and lightweight. It has a on/off switch that must be set to ON before operation can start. Its also a very good size that allows it to achieve some climbing and some driving on short grass. This, of course, causes a loss of speed. Underneath the truck there is an adjustment for the wheels to calibrate their direction. Kind of like “trimming” an aircraft yoke, for those that know what that is. SPEED EXPERIMENTS I measured the actual speed in two ways. On my first experiment, I used a speed app I downloaded to my phone. I placed the phone on top of the truck. It measured a top speed of approximatelly 6 mph. I assumed that the weight of the phone caused some loss of speed. On my second experiment I did a distance per time measurement. I measured a distance covered and timed the trajectory with my phone's stop watch. Then I did the math and found the top speed to be a little over 6 mph. The manufacturer claims that “up to 10 mph” can be achieved. OPERATION I tested this truck on various surfaces. I found that this truck is too fast for indoor use. It did operate well on short grass but with reduced speed and likely shorter battery life. I tested it on a slope and it does have some climbing ability but this does compromise its speed greatly. I tested it on a dirt trail and it performed perfectly. Finally, I tested it on pavement where it worked perfectly as well. Because the truck is so fast (6 mph), it requires a lot of space. I enjoyed it the most on the dirt trail. I believe this truck would be best if taken to a park or playground with lots of room. The distance of operation was impressively long. Over a block. I never needed to let this truck go so far away that I lost signal from it. If you leave that truck idle for a while, it disconnects. To reconnect, you must switch both the truck and remote off and on. FINAL THOUGHTS I think this RC truck is great fun and a great gift under the right circumstances. Its not suitable for playing indoors, on dangerous roads, tall grass, or steep slopes. Battery installation might best be done by an adult. The distance that this truck can get away from the remote is amazing. The box claims a range of 160 ft. Well beyond what is necessary. What I liked the most was the range. What I liked the least was how the turn wheel is placed on the remote. The remote is the only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars. No major issues. I do recommend this product for kids.

I thought that this would be a fun little toy to play around with. I was kind of let down though. It was not as fast as I thought that it would be. But it still has potential to be a great toy for a kid. The steering on it is kind of terrible imo. But then it is still new to me, so maybe I will get better at it. I do got to say though, I ordered black and yellow but got black and blue instead. Not a big deal. But just thought that I would throw though out there. I could have a lot of fun with it once I get the steering down. So yeah, i would definitely buy this for a nephew or a niece who likes like driving battery operated cars.
