I really didn't think that Walmart would sell a product of this quality. The quality of the cedar was very good. The product has been hugely popular with my kids. It is VERY time consuming to install, so be sure to set aside the weekend. Also, organize all the wood parts when you open the box, and lay out the hardware.
The swing set was very difficult to put together because every piece is separate. But in the end it was worth it my son is 20 months and he loves his new swing set it's cold here in Florida right now but warmer days are ahead and I look forward to spending many hours outside with him.
We purchased this playset after a month of shopping and checking all the reviews for other products. Even though this was a new item for 2010 and had no ratings, we took the chance because of the fact that it stated that all the pieces were marked. Well, they were!! It only took 2 hrs. for one person to sort, and it was up and ready with 2 people working on it in less than 2 days. All holes were drilled properly with 2 minor exceptions. We did have 2 broken boards, called the company, talked to a LIVE PERSON, and they sent replacement parts immediately. Plus we told them about the couple of things that we found wrong and they were glad so they could report it and get it fixed. We did follow some advise from others who rated different sets, and added a couple of extra 2 x 4's under the floor to make it more sturdy. Overall, we were very pleased with the set and with the company.
We bought this swingset for our two boys. Ages 6 and 3yrs. They love it. They have to eat at their little picnic table every chance they get. Before we decided to buy this one, we read all the reviews on it. Great reviews except several people said it was hard to put up. Sure it is a little hard to put up because it has a lot of parts and you definitely need at least 2 people working together. My husbnad and a friend of his got it up in no time. A total of 5 to 6 hrs working together and that was taking breaks in between. So YES if you need a swingset for your young child or children this is a great one. My kids use it EVERYDAY if it's not raining.
We were very satisfied with our purchase. The swing set took roughly 5 hours to put together (with someone who knew what they were doing). And there were no problems in assembling. My girls are one and four years old and are loving the new swing set. The wood is not made for adults but will work just great for children. I am happy with our purchase and would recommend to others.
Pretty easty to put together, we were short a few hex head bolts and over on several other parts. Some places it didn't seem like the bolts were long enough to make it sturdy! Had to leave washers out in a few places so bolts would fit. After we got it together we did replace a few bolts with our own to make sure it was good and steady. Looks great and hope the kids will enjoy it!
NOTE ABOUT THE PICTURE: The swing in the MIDDLE is NOT part of the play yard. It was only my father-in-law and myself putting this together, total time roughly 14 hours. NO MISSING PIECES which I found to be amazing, as this thing has about 400,000 or so parts. TIP: Fortunately my father-in-law built his own house, so suffice it to say, he has everything you would ever need for this kind of project. But you really do not need a great deal. Probably the most clutch thing may have been a rubber mallet, as some parts needed a little "motivation". And with a softer wood like this, it's a bit gentler. Now on to the softer wood: NOVICES! NEVER over tighten. You'll feel how any screw or part "bites" into the wood. Let it do so. Don't force anything, and NEVER go deep with the drill. You WILL split the wood. Flushing the screws is more than sufficient, as the manufacturer provided enough per section to keep it as safe and stable as need be FOR A CHILD. Adults take note: I have been on the swings, and it will support the weight. Just don't go bananas. The ladder/rock wall, not so much. You can climb it, but you'll notice right away that it is not intended for ADULTS. The floor of the "tree house"? Forget about it. You're on your own there! If you wish to join your kids on the picnic bench, then you will have to add more support, as it will NOT support an adult (nor was it ever intended to!). All the pieces were labeled correctly, although some you had to take a second to find the labels. Those that were not labeled (and there were a few. DON'T PANIC.) wound up at the end to be very obvious pieces, i.e., main swing supports. It was this ONE section, however, that we had to re-drill. The pre-drilled holes were off "...by that much...", but it was nothing a drill and the right bit couldn't fix. ALSO: The top canopy was intended to be fixed to the main "fort" via grommets, however, ours was too narrow, and could not be, but no biggie as far as I am concerned. ADVICE: Obvious or not, lay out ALL your pieces prior to starting. This will make EVERYTHING run that much smoother. Clearly you do not have to, but when you open the box, you'll understand. ALSO: DO NOT FORGET THE ADDENDUM IF YOU GET ONE!!! We were scratching our heads for a good 20 min. over a thing before I remembered the addendum! VERY IMPORTANT! I personally had a great deal of fun putting this together for my son, and find it to be a perfect little play yard that he can enjoy for a number of years!
I should have known that the quality of the product was not going to meet my expectations, considering the bargain price I paid. Half of the wood we recieved was cracked or split. The instructions were not ordered correctly. There needed to be an adendum to the adendum. The labeling was incorrect on a few of the parts. The overall assembly was a nightmare because of all of the complications with the instructions. When we finally got everything put together, the final product will most likely be suffice for my two young children. It will serve it's purpose for the meantime. In the future I will not try to take the cheap route when it comes to large equipment.
Directions were not very good, absolute pain to put together! Missing parts as well, I called Adventure Playsets 2 weeks ago and Im STILL waiting for the parts (which caused us to go and purchase ourselves @ Lowes). Overall it's a nice set, seems sturdy. I like this set so much more then the picture Wal-Mart posts, alot nicer when you see it built and in your own yard :) Seal withe sealent when complete!
First off, this set is made out of the cheapest wood I've ever seen, its not cedar as it saids in the ad, but has a cedar color paint on it. You have to be very carefully not to over tighten anything, or you will break though the wood. The instructions are not clear and the hardware is marked differently the what they call for in the instructions. Getting some of the hardware to fit the per-drill holes was adventure all unto its self. Basically its a $400.00 big old piece of junk. But it looks good once I got it together, but for how long it it stay together is anyones bet.
