I have an abundance of lettuce. I got my AeroGarden around Christmas and my Heirloom Salad garden is still growing!I haven't had to buy lettuce. Awesome!
This is the 2nd time we have had this kit and the first one kept us continuously having yummy and crispy lettuce for a year!! We just started a new batch for this year!!!
I was amazed - the seeds had germinated in three days and little leaves appeared. Ten days later I was adding leaves to my salads and another week later these lettuces were the base of my daily salad. Tender and tasty - I was very proud of myself! They've provided me salads for about six weeks now. Time to reorder!
All the salad greens are growing really well and there is a nice variety. I was able to harvest some with about a month planting and they are just growing like a weed. I will Definitely buy this Salad Greens seed variety pack again.
The first time that I grew lettuce in my AG it went wonderfully successful. I was even able to transfer to soil, and they kept coming back after harvest.
I love this! I love having fresh lettuce on the counter all the time. I will never grow lettuce in dirt again. I have had 100% germination, and this has lasted for 2 months and is still going.
A long-time user of AeroGarden products, although we sometimes "rest" and grow things out-of-doors. We like the choices and have recently purchased a new unit for ourselves and one for a son. These units are easy to use, easy to care for and it is so pleasant to see "green" in December. Our recent trial of grape tomatoes really surprised us. The key is the bumble bee pollen duster.
I planted three Heirloom Salad Greens seed pods. It was a lot of fun to watch them; they grow quickly and taste great. And they're really gorgeous when the garden gets all full and lush! I made some really nice little salads, throwing in kale from the Kale Mix pods, and lots of herbs. Five stars in those departments! But, I'll subtract a star for the few problems I encountered. Firstly, 3 pods of lettuce don't make as much salad as I'd hoped. If you like a "meal salad" (vs a "side" salad), you'll need to plant a lot more pods! We are three adult salad monsters in our home, and I'm not sure how big an Aerogarden, or how many, we'd need to have as much lettuce, kale, and other greens as we would like! Secondly, there are tricks for growing lettuce successfully that I had to dig deep to learn via lots of googling and reading. a. Lettuce "bolts." Mine bolted -- when I cut the leaves, white milky fluid came out, and the leaves had become so bitter they were inedible. b. I encountered "root rot" in a couple of the pods. The roots became nasty brown, shrively, and the lettuce became stunted. c. I was only able to harvest for a few weeks at best, then the lettuce was "gone" as far as growing any more. I learned: - to keep a small fan on the lettuce a few hours a day; it's a "cool temperature" plant. - to put a couple of ice cubes in the reservoir morning and evening. - not to let the lights be too close to the lettuce; again, they need to be a little bit cool. - to keep my water (whether tap or filtered) as close to Ph 6.5 as possible. It would have been helpful to have more specific instructions on how to grow the salad greens successfully. But, in the digging, I learned a lot on the internet, and more about growing other veggies and greens as well; pruning, thinning, Ph factors, and much more. As my lettuce and greens knowledge grows, so grows some really beautiful, fresh, delicious salad greens -- no regrets!
Grows fast. I was eating salads at 21 days from dropping the pods in. The lettuce doesn't have much crunch. Adding kale to the grow. Overall, I enjoy it.
The five that I planted in my AeroGarden - all but one are coming up well. The one that is not is the Rouge D'Hiver. Now, I may be a bit spoiled as this is the last lettuce that I grew from you that came with my last salad greens!!!! See attached photo!!!
