This little drone has been so much fun to play with! When it came in the box, my teenager said that it looked "really cheap and boring". Well, I charged it right up and let her take it out to fly. There was a bit of a learning curve, but once she got the hang of it, she didn't want to stop! This "cheap and boring" toy has turned out to be so much fun! The funnest part about it was viewing the videos that we'd captured during flight. The video is fairly decent quality and it's amazed how high up the drone can go. It's surprisingly sturdy. The only con so far is that the battery does not seem to last that long, so flying time is only about 10 minutes before we need to recharge. I did receive this product as part of a promotion from Air Hogs.
I had a great opportunity to test out the Air Hogs - Helix X4 Video Quad Copter through BzzAgent in return for my honest opinion. Out of the box the copter was extremely light and I wasn’t sure how durable it would be. The remote control was a great shape and felt very comfortable. Initial charging time seemed a bit long but that could be due in part to the anticipation. Recharging time seemed to be quicker. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to control once we got a hang of the remote levers. The copter flew quite well and was very smooth. My initial reservations on durability were wrong – the copter held up very well after multiple bumps/collisions with walls as we were learning the remote. My pre-teen son had no trouble at all with the copter functions, a much quicker learner than the adults I’m sure this is due to his vast video gaming experience as the remote feels and functions like a gaming remote. Video was great, smooth and clear. It was also very easy to view on my laptop. The copter works best indoors or outdoors with no wind (it was quite unstable when we tried it in the backyard when the wind started picking up). The only negative I have is the charge does not last too long but I guess this is the case with electronics like this so I can’t really make that a big negative. We had so much fun flying it that it was disappointing that the charge did not last longer. All in all, this is a great item. I think it would be a great gift for the upcoming holiday season for kids and adults alike!
Xmas present for my Grandson. The best present he got because it got him away from his I-pod and now he is outdoors , checking out the scenery and woods on the back of the house.
I was so excited to receive this item as a BzzAgent in exchange for my honest review. My kids loved it because it was easy to control and very durable. You could hit a wall full speed and nothing would happen to it. It is meant for indoors or a calm day outdoor with no wind, as the slightest wind could send it flying away as it is very light. The only problem with the controls is the throttle and spin control as it is hard to keep a solid and constant speed while trying to spin the drone to the desired direction. The second and last problem is that the micro SD card is not secured for if you drop it down the stairs while flying it it could pop out and take forever to find it. Otherwise this is a good drone for kids. The camera quality is surprisingly good for a kids toy.
I was fortunate to receive this item as a BzzAgent in exchange for my honest review. I have to say, I was impressed! As a mom, I have seen and owned many different gadgets and devices, as well as other Air Hogs merchandise. I believe this may be one of their best yet. Upon opening the package I found simple directions on how to operate and charge the Helix. My first few tries I crashed, but I crash all of my kids toys like this! But the learning curve for the Helix was small, and in very little time I was navigating like a pro (well, in my mind anyways). This thing can take a beating. I was sure I was going to break it, but it still looks like it did when I took it out of the box! The video output was also quite impressive. I was not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. It is by no means a crystal clear picture, but certainly better than some of the devices my kids have had with video recording. I also did this indoors with somewhat low light, so I imagine the quality would be much better outdoors. I think this would be great for a child over the age of 8. I know my tween is going to enjoy it. Heck, I bet my husband will too!
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas and we have both been very impressed with it. It's easy to fly and ready to go right out of the box. It's a great TOY for the price and the picture and video quality is amazing for a relatively cheap toy. Highly recommend this for kids but it is more of an indoor toy as even slight breezes outdoors will send this thing on it's way.
This quadcopter has given me hours of outside fun it gets you off the couch and out for fresh air and some activity ... I would advise anyone over 30 to get one it's not just for kids
Its pretty cool, I did however thought it was bigger because the picture was blown up a bit. It is some what a little bit hard to fly at first but with practice I'm sure it will work for what I want. The price was right at the time so I got a good deal and it came a day earlier then what the shipping date said. Very nice.
I was thrilled to receive this item through Buzz to be able to test. After playing with it for awhile I would give it a 3 out of 5. The Air Hog drone is impressive. It is powerful for it’s size, and fairly easy to maneuver with the special beginner flyer mode. There are several issues though that prevent it from receiving a higher rating. The first is the weight. The lightness of the styrefoam exterior makes the drone very vulnerable in the wind. It’s nearly impossible to control with slight winds especially above 10 ft. The second major issue is the short battery life. With a full charge I could only get about 10 minutes of flying when running the video camera. And only about 15 minutes when not running any recording equipment. I think a little added weight, and some improvements to the battery would be great improvements.
I was fortunate to be selected to try out this product for Bzzz agent. The Air Hogs - Helix X4 Video Quad Copter was small and what I thought a little flimsy but was impressed how durable it was. In fact I felt that all flight toys should be made with the foam that was used since it is so indestructible. Although it was fun to fly indoors we did take it outside for a little while and on a still day it worked great. It took a while to charge and I felt the charge didn't last very long, about 15 minutes or less, so that bummed us out a little especially when you finally get the hang of it and then it dies out on you. As for the photos and video, I didn't find that they look to good but perhaps I wasn't still enough. My 12 year old grandson was the main tester and he got the hang of it rather quickly but he also found the pictures and video were just ok and we both agreed perhaps a steadier aircraft would do better. Because of the price, the low charge and the grainy pictures and video I could only give it 3 stars.
