This is a really cool toy. Not only my 4-year old loves it, I myself can't get enough of it. It flies really well. I also have a WowWee dragonfly, but that one flies too fast (in forward direction) to properly fly indoors. But this one has more of a hoovering component than a plane-like flight, so it is more controllable. The remote looks solid. The only drawback is that it is infra-red which means that it works only when it is pointed towards the bird man, or until it keeps getting the signal by reflection from the walls. This also means that you cannot fly it outside. It looks fairly delicate being made up of foam but it is amazingly durable. We have crashed it a million times but it is still intact. Particularly the wings appear to be very flimsy but they are holding up pretty well. My dragonfly's wings broke easily and now it is useless. In short it is a really cool toy and for the price I got it from Walmart, it is well worth it.
If you have a a very large room to fly it in, it is a lot of fun for kids to play with. Not too fast, and actually kind of pretty with the flapping of the wings. We had fun with this (until we destroyed it). Our kids abused it and eventually it would not steer (but it was fun, even then)--eventually the foam tail got bent and then it was no longer fun. Most, or all of the damage was preventable, so I give it 5stars.
I was very pleased with this purchase! It flew great, right out of the box, and has been a lot of fun indoors. It kind of looks like a bird, since it flaps its wings. And it flies plenty slow to fly around in a decent sized room. Air Hogs is amazing at inventing new technology that REALLY WORKS! Go Air Hogs! I'll be buying more of their stuff in the future... no doubt!
A little hard to control the steering. Will have to try weighting one side with provided sticker. Still, really cool to fly something indoors on battery power that gets its lift by flapping its wings! Got this for $10 and FS! Definitely worth it at that price!
I bought two of these for extra holiday gifts for my two boys (8 and 6) and they love them. One of them doesn't quite steer right but at that age they don't care as long as they got to fly something in the house. When working right they can fly around in circles, or steer around a large room.
This thing flies really well, much easier to control than those rc mini helicopters. And it's sturdier as well. I ordered mine as one of the Christmas gifts for my 6-year-old boy. He liked this one the most! It was fun for him and all the guests for a couple of days, until it could no longer hold steady in the air. Sure I wish it had lasted longer. But given the fact it's made of light foam, I guess we have to manage our expectations. And indeed, it lasted longer than all of my mini rc helicopters.
the air hogs v-wing avenger man was a great valve for my intent witch was the dive bomb the felines roaming the house.the birdman in very durable and will take a beating.it has a good run time of about 5-8 mins and recharges in 15.it takes a few run to fly it pretty good, but in no time dive bombing and flying in circles is no problem.I would reccommend this to anyone looking to do some indoor flying fun.
My 8 year old and 5 year old got these as early holiday gifts and absolutely loved them. Now they want more sophisticated onea. The controls aren't great and if you have any breakables/valuables lying around, think twice about putting these in the hands of a kid! I would have given it 5 stars but for the quality.
I bought this unit on sale through the website for quite a bit less then retail cost. Which is a good thing! It does fly well, but compaired to a Havac Heli (also made by airhogs) the control is minimal. You need a big open indoor space to take advantage of this flying toy.
I expected it to be more. It flies but it seems as if you can't control it in the direction you want it to go. It is made of foam for the amount of money I spent I would expect it to be at least hard plastic, therefore the more you crash the closer you get to permanent damage in a short time. Also the hype about this product was more than it really is. Does my child enjoy it.....yes. Does he know better......no. However as a parent I look out for the best interest for him and had I known that this particular item would've been like this I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place.
