This is the cutest little tea set! The set comes with four plates, four tea cups, creamer, sugar and tea pot, along with four napkins and a cute polka dot tablecloth, all packed into a wicker basket. The pieces are all porcelain and nice quality. We accidentally dropped a few pieces yesterday, and they did not break or chip, so they seem pretty sturdy. The basket is also well made with a latch and sturdy handles. The age range is 8+, but I think it would be okay for younger children with supervision. My 5 year old played with it yesterday and really seemed to enjoy it. The set comes packed in plastic dividers that keep each piece separate and protected in the case. We chose to keep the pieces packed in the dividers, but the case appears to be the right size to store the individual pieces loosely if you wanted to store them that way. Since the pieces are porcelain, I wanted to take a little care with them to keep them looking nice, although as I said, they do seem pretty sturdy. Overall, this is a great little pretend play toy, and I look forward to hours of playtime fun with my children.
To say that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the ALEX Toy Tea Set Basket would be an understatement! My daughter loves having tea parties with her dolls & stuffed animals and has been begging to have a tea set of her own. I carefully scrutinized and reviewed every set I came across and finally found one that I knew she'd be delighted with. Where do I begin? The set serves four, with a cup, saucer, and napkin for each guest. It also includes a teapot with lid, creamer, and a sugar bowl for the perfect lay out. All of the pieces can be neatly stored in the hinged wicker basket which is lined with the same whimsical polka dot pattern as the napkins and matching tablecloth. And did I mention the pieces were porcelain and not plastic!? My daughter squealed with delight when she discovered her set was just like mommy's! Although I was initially concerned about the possibility of something breaking, my fears were quickly put to rest when I realized how well made and sturdy the pieces are. This ALEX Toys Tea Set Basket is perfect for mother/daughter time, as well as for pretend play with friends!
This set is absolutely adorable. I did not realize that all the pieces were glass. It almost makes me want to play with them. The blue color is a nice break from all the pink that is usually associated with girls. My daughter got a playhouse for Christmas and this is a perfect addition. She can go out and take her toys and have tea for as long as she likes. Sheiks the little napkins that came with it. Her table has 4 chairs so this is perfect. And the wicker basket is a creative carry case for all the tiny dishes. It should hold up well and if she is careful with it, it should last for many years.
This product was much better than I had anticipated. The basket that it comes in is lined with the same fabric as the "tablecloth" that comes with the set. It is a pink background with bright polka dots. The basket has a clasp closure. The basket is very sturdy. The tea set itself is a much higher quality material than I had expected. It also comes with cloth "napkins", as well as the usual cups, saucers, etc. A wonderful toy for imaginative playtime.
This tea set is very sweet, and well made. The basket is laquered, and has a leatherette strap to close it. The inside is lined with the same fabric as the table cloth that comes with the set. While the fabric isn't attached very well, it should hold up with some care. The basket is about the size of an old-style lunch box (8 x 6.5 x 4.75), and indeed could be used as one. The tea set itself is made of ceramic with a nice glaze. All the pieces are a light blue, with the cups having a pink inside the the bowls. There are four cups and saucers, a teapot with lid, a creamer pitcher, and a sugar bowl with lid. The saucers are 2.75 inches in diameter. The cups are 1.75 inches in diameter and 1 inch tall. The teapot is 3.5 inches tall with the lid. I think these dimensions would make it perfect for an American Girl or similar 18" doll. Also included with the set are a table cloth in pink with bright, neon polka dots, and 4 contrasting blue napkins with the same dots. While the ceramic pieces are quite dense, they are breakable, so parents should be cautious when purchasing for very young children. The lids, especially sugar bowl's, are very small, and could present a choking hazard. Although I am an adult with no children, I will be using this set to make videos for YouTube in my mini-food cooking show. I am simply delighted with it.

It is porcelain so younger children may struggle with it, but its delicate dishes are perfect for older girls. The dimensions are very unclear. It looks average size but the sizes are very small though the cuteness sets it apart. The little cups might hold a tablespoon of water approx). This is a very nice Alex tea set basket it says 18 pieces but it's actually 19 if you include the very nice caring case which is a picnic basket. The basket includes porcelain tea set it has 4 plates 4 cups a tea kettle with the lid a cream and sugar bowl with the lid it's got 4 little napkins and a very nice little piece of cloth to lay down to put your tea set on.I think this would be great for an older responsible child but I don't think that a younger child should play with this item the suggested age is 8+.These pieces are porcelain which is a type of sharp pottery that could break and cut them so I don't think that smaller children should play with it. This looks like the tea sets you would get back in the 50s and 60s I had a set when I was a little girl and I am 57 of corse back then all we had was our imagination it was a great little set back in the day but I don't think many children play with this kind of thing any more. It is made in China distributed by Alex brands.
This is a cute little item. It is made with real porcelain therefore is not really durable with children. It's more of a model display set. Very retro. It comes in a lovely woven basket and well presented. It makes a lovely gift, even for an elderly young lady at heart
This Tea set comes in a super cute basket with handles and a clasp to keep shut. I could not wait to see what the set looked like. It is a ceramic tea set with blue on the outside and pink on the inside. There are four tea cups and saucers, a creamer, a sugar and a teapot. The teapot and the sugar have lids. The tea set is very breakable. Maybe this is why the age recommended is for 8 years old. Also included is a pink table cloth and four blue napkins. All super cute. Now, the problem is as soon as you open the basket it stinks. It stinks bad!! The napkins and table cloth smell like they were sprayed with a chemical flame retardant. I assume that the cloth that lines the basket is sprayed with the same. however, I cannot tell because the whole thing smells. I am not a fan of chemicals on kids toys and especially ones that will be used on/in my child's mouth. The Alex website includes general safety information. They follow US Standards (CPSIA/ASTMF963). They state that all their toys are tested for physical/mechanical safety requirements as well as flammability. Also, test for harmful chemicals including lead, heavy metals and phthalates. Because this smells like chemicals, I do not feel comfortable with this being played with in my home. Very disappointing because it looks adorable. This product is made in China
I never thought I would be writing a bad review on a pretty little tea set for children, but I have to be truthful about it. The material the cups, plates, teapot, sugar, and creamer are made of is not of good quality. The lid to the sugar bowl came with a chip already on it (the broken piece was not in the package), and I can tell from the feel of the items that all the pieces would be easily chipped or broken. No one wants items like this in the hands of small children. I would not want them to put any of the pieces in or near their mouths. It would okay for a grown person to use this as a decoration, but not for use as a tea set. It is made in China and clearly not their best work.
