I use this product for nearly all of my pet snakes and it works very well. As the other reviewer mentioned, it is very absorbent and holds humidity well. I would definitely recommend this to others.
I have gotten bedding for my guinea pigs before that was just too "chunky" and this is shredded down very well. It is softer for them and does a good job of keeping odors down. This bag goes a long way for the price also.
This is the best aspen bedding I've ever gotten and at the best price! I use this for my hamster's substrate in his cage, and it's softer than any other aspen I've used. It has almost no dust either, which is always a good thing. It's shredded more finely too, making it excellent for my little burrower to make tunnels that hold up. Fill your small burrowing pet's cage with a few inches of this--they'll thank you for it! *Note: there are some larger bits of aspen shown in the picture mixed with this one. Those are a different brand. The vast majority of the aspen shown is this one!
Great price & nice size for our hamsters.
I get this for my guinea pigs. They seem to like it and be fine with it. I used to use the CareFresh paper stuff. They loved that, but it was a little pricey. This stuff is cheaper, but it still works fine. It is very absorbent. I like it and will probably continue using it. It also doesn't leave a weird smell on your hands which is a bonus.
The bag has gotten a little smaller since I started purchasing this over a year ago. It works, but am disappointed on the smaller amount, it makes it that sooner we have to go buy another bag.
I recently purchased these shavings. Good value for the size of the package, and they really did help with the smell of the cage. The only thing i didnt care for as much is the product is really compacted and you have to dig some out and pull it apart to get it to sprinkle along the bottom of the cage. Other than that it is a good product and it does what it is supposed to do.
I thought I would try Aspen bedding instead of the paper bedding I had been using. It's not a bad choice, but I found it a little bit finer cut then other aspen. It seems to be working OK. There is other bedding out there, shop around and see what works best.
Product ok, but was advertised to be 1500 cu in, after getting the product home package was 1200 cu in, 20% less than online ad.
I originally bought this because of the low price and all the good reviews it received...however I did not care for it at all for a couple reasons. My hamster constantly sneezed after putting this bedding in his cage, it was quite apparent that the shavings/bedding was the cause after switching to a paper kind-no more sneezing. Also this stuff is messy. We have a Teddybear hamster which has long fur. The shavings would constantly get stuck and tangled in his fur and whenever we would take him out of his cage, he came with a handful of wood shavings too no matter how much we tried to prevent it. Also his cage started stinking only three days after cleaning it and putting this down. It did NOT work well with controlling odor at all! We switched to a paper bedding that only costs a dollar and change more and we have no issues with it at all! I highly recommend going with a paper bedding versus the wood shavings.
