i love this grill/smoker. its nice and big. big enough to feed a large family with guest. we use this to smoke 40lbs brisket to just grilling a single Tomahawk.
It holds heat very well. Don't have to stay right on top of it.
Brought it home, assembled it and the very next day got it to smoke. It's wonderful to be able to just lift the lid and see what's cooking. Also very easy to load and unload the items to be smoked. Good deal.
So far HAPPY with It , got here 5 days earlier than they said, put it together , all looks great for the price . Will finish review after we use it . only complaint I have is with the shipping box was BADLY BEAT UP AND TORN had two dents in the main body .
Good value, easy to assemble, need to mod it a bit (better thermometers, baffles, exhaust changes) to really get it working great but a good starting point for a large smoker. In my first go, I smoked 5 racks of ribs, 2 chickens, a large pork shoulder and 16 - 20 sausages. Not the most durable smokers out there - season the smoker per the directions and I would buy a cover to help prolong the life of it.
The smoker arrived on time, but it appeared to have fallen off the truck. upon inspection surprisingly everything seemed to be there. I didn't remove protective wrap from everything until I got to each part to assemble (bad idea) The main lid is bent up, I was able to adjust it enough to make it seal, mostly. the large barrel was also bent a little too. Besides the damage and missing a few screws it went together in a couple hours. For the price I didn't expect the metal to be very heavy, it's not. the fire box lost a significant amount of paint during the burn off.
I've been smoking meats and veggies for roughly 10 years now. I bought this smoker online without seeing it in person because it's the same char-broil smoker style I bought roughly 7 years ago. (Except the old one had the Char-broil logo as opposed to American Gourmet logo) I just put it together and there are definitely issues I am going to have to deal with it. First, the metal gauge of the chambers seem about half as thick as the old one. There is a poor coat of heat paint on it. Some parts of the small chamber don't appear to even have the black heat paint. So, I know it's going to rust pretty quickly if I don't add a coat to it before I start cooking with it. There are some small gaps with the lid and between the small and large chamber which is going to let more smoke out of the cracks than I'd like. There are dings and scrapes that definitely appear to have happened at the factory and not shipping related. It looks like Char-broil has some production issues with their supplier in China. (See attached images) All that said, you get what you pay for. I know I can fix the issues and smoke some good stuff with this so I'm not returning it. I think it's going to be an OK smoker for a year or so. It likely won't last 2 years. So, definitely think about that when your comparing different smokers. Had I seen it in person first, I would have just spent an extra $100 dollars or so for a better quality product.
Seller send me damaged product. As you can see on pics, the box was taped up with walmart tape. So they were aware of possibility of damages, but didn't inspect the product. Then they told me i will get my refund within 2 to 6 weeks, for returning the product.
First of all it don't come with all the parts to put it together had to go find parts at the hardware store second it comes all beat up from Walmart warehouse they need to do a better job on shipping products because people pay a lot of money for merchandise and they don't want they stuff damaged I'm really disappointed at Walmart and distributor of this product
Price very reasonable, but you get what you pay for. Grade/thickness of metal is fair but not quality. Several parts not completely welded together. Holes for fire box handle were welded at hing side which would make it impossible to open without burning your arm.
