The tank is great for a single fish in an area without much space.

Connectable but Stack-able not via water

First review for me on Walmart – very busy so taking the time for this says a lot about how much I like this product. I was looking for clear PVC pipe to make a tube aquarium. I contacted a few PVC manufactures for scraps and only one was kind enough to get back to me but the sizes they could provide me were no longer than a regular aquarium. Also the prices of the end caps brought cost up big time ($500+) So I was shocked when I found this $10.00 alternative at Walmart. I bought 3 for our 2 ½ year old beta (little guy just keeps on going) They connect left and right of each other with o-rings and a ¼ turn pressure clamp. Very easy, takes about 2 seconds to connect. Stack-able but not via water – you can place them on top of one another but the base is NOT able to allow water transfer – so you are just putting one on top of another. No different than stacking water bowls on top of one another. I was disappoint to see this but the logistics of making it water tight and the risk of a lead killing the fish is a real possibility. If the o-ring leaks on the left or right side, it would leave enough water to keep the fish going till you can save them. However this isn't a total loss on being stack-able. If you don't know Betas are very aggressive fish and if you put anything else in with them … they'll probably kill it. (i.e. gold fish) We are thinking of getting about 10 more and building kitchen counter backsplash with them. Allowing the Beta's to have their own home and then stack up others species around them. In short: Great Price – after 1 day so far no leaks. Wish list: I wish the manufacture would build attachments such as corner pieces, 4 cross sections, maybe a vertical “S”

Cool look, lacks necessary features for a betta

Full disclosure: I have not personally purchased this product--my friend did. But she is blissfully unaware of proper betta, so I have decided to write a review of the features of her purchase to inform consumers. First, the tank design and concept is really cool. She has it in her office on a bookshelf with four tanks connected together for one betta. Please note that one tank is NOT sufficient space for one betta! A betta should really have 2.5 gallons minimum to thrive. (They can live in a cup, just like you or I could live in a 4'x4' closet, but it isn't good.) The tank does not have the ability to add a heater. Betta's generally need a water temp of 76-78 degrees. Unless the room temp is close to 80 F, your bettas will be too cold. I know that they do make under tank heaters for betta, but I honestly do not know how it would work with this set up. You need to do frequent water changes with this tank--weekly--which will mean a lot of disconnecting and reconnecting if you have multiple tubes. A bit of an inconvenience. And these are not easy to clean, unless you go decor-free. I don't know if the betta care one way or the other. I usually add some live plants and a bit of Indian almond leaf to mine. Hope this is useful to some looking for a first tank! I found lots of good info on bettasource.com. I ended up with a few different tanks. The betta seem happy in a 2.5 or larger hex tank with a heater and regular water changes. They don't like a strong water current! The little 2.5 and 5 gal mini bow tanks (from aqueon I think) are nicely self contained with a filter--so less water changes--and easy to add a heater to, but you need add some extra filter sponge in the uptake and outflow to slow down the water flow on the surface.
