I wouldn't run out and buy an Archos PMP just to add this on, but it's a nice addition if you already own the Archos PMP. Finds lots of satellites quickly, boots up in less time than my other GPS's. Nice display and volume is fantastic (low volume is a common complaint on GPS's). Easy, intuitive touchscreen interface. On the other hand, the map lags and is almost always a bit behind your current position. The POIs (points of interest) show up as non-descript symbols. I'd prefer textual names be attached to each. Routing has proven to be identical to 2 other GPS's in household.
Great product. Not as good as a more expensive unit but I love it. Unit will work with the new 5 also
1. Didn't work out of the box. The map code labeled on the box was wrong. Had to call tech support, waited a long time, only to be told they didn't know what to do. 2. Went online, found the information in chat group, sent for code, got it emailed back a week later. 3. GPS software doesn't work when unit is not attached to holder. You have to mount it to do everything, such as entering POIs, addresses, etc. 4. Cannot listen to MP3s while Nav mode is on. So much for taking your entertainment with you on the road if you also need navigational help. 5. The mount is solid. The maps are nice and pretty. But overall this is not a good alternative to a real GPS.
Poor interface, and mediocre mapping, at best.
