First, this a/c unit is huge. It took 2 people to move and install it. Installation was easy but the instructions were not that clear on what screws to use where, and all of the screws, bolts, nuts and washers were all tossed in a single Baggie with no labels. I installed this in a shop that is 2100sq. Ft. And it works awesome. It pulls all the humidity out and brings the temp down to the low 70's. If I set it for 65 it won't ever get there, but I expected it to not get that low nor do I want it that low. I am impressed with this unit but I haven't seen my electric bill yet to see how much it's costing me. I may come back and update this review to include cost analysis. But so far it's much better in my shop.
I have had this unit installed for almost a week . I live in a double wide and before installing we couldn't get it below 84 degrees in our home on very hot days . Now it has been 70 degrees everyday in our home . It cools excellent and I am very pleased with this air conditioner. We did have it installed by our contractors, mounted right into the wall .
This unit was a fairly easy install with two people working together. We have been using in for 3 weeks now and it continues to cool our 5 bedroom 3 bath double wide home. We use a couple of fans at the end of the hall and into the kitchen/den area to move the air into these spaces. Overall a great buy and Walmart Customer Service was very helpful with the purchase and the loading the unit into my suv for transport home.
Purchased about a week or two ago, it's in a storage building about 900 square feet large, doesn't cool it completely, but doesn't do a bad job. I have it set at 70, and the room stays a constant 76, which is way more tolerable than the 105 outside. I had to put some holes in my walls to rewire outlet from 110 to 220, but only took me 20 minutes or so. This thing is massive, and nearly takes up my large window, and I had to build a support for the excess weight, but it does a good job cooling off the room. Only time will tell if it will keep the room cool enough when the real heat of summer hits, till then it does its job.
This is a really good AC so far (I've had it a little over two weeks). The only problem I had was that it was too big for our window so I had to do some major modifications to make it fit. I got this because a 10k and 5k BTU set of AC's couldn't keep up with the South Texas heat, the 25k has no problem at all. If you are looking for a really good AC with a large output this is the one you want.
Would have given it 5 stars, but this thing NEEDS a drainhole, even when slanted it does not drain. There is a hole in the middle of the pan, but water collects in the back. No biggy, you're going to have to spend 30 seconds to drill a new one. But I tried it first the way it was, pan filled up with water, and the blower fan started hitting the water making a slight cracking sound. I could imagine over time this would cause premature damage to the unit. Theres also an indentation in bottom of pan that if you drill, it's clean on the other side. But I went with a small bit, and it does the trick. Also, people were critical about the angle mounts. My unit was secure even without them, so I would say they're fine. But I went all out and made an outside support out of 4x4 posts. FYI, I'm using in my 1500 sq ft garage with 10 ft ceilings. I'd say it performs as expected. No shipping damage, worked first time out of box, remote seems like good quality. Again, engineers at Arctic King should reconsider pan design, that's about it.
I purchased this item in a hurry because my central AC unit went out and the heat was almost unbearable. This unit cools 1500 sq ft of my 2150 sq ft home without any problems. It's quiet for an AC unit of this size and it barely drips condensation outside. I have only had this unit for a few weeks so I cant say how long it will last., but if I get 3 years out of it I will be happy. Yes it's made in China.
The item purchased is great! However, I did not receive my purchase by the date committed. I was four days later receiving it. In the future, Walmart should be certain to choose a delivery service/company that will deliver purchases by the date committed to the customer. Not to mention, my air was out and I had to pay $49 extra to have it delivered to my home in oppose to shipping to the store for free. I chose this option because I desperately needed the air. Inspire of all, Walmart did refund me the freight charges. But, with the extremely exhausting heat it was very much STILL an inconvenience.
This A/C worked great for 24 hours. Actually had the pleasant problem of trying to keep it from getting too cool. Then it suddenly started blowing warm air only. I don't know why - could have been something simple, but decided to return it; as the weather has been unbearably hot I didn't have time to take further chances.
Purchased the unit and waited the 10 days or so to pick it up in store. This went pretty well but when we were unpacking we noticed that the corner was damaged. Most likely dropped at some point. Since there is internal packaging you have to disassemble the unit before installing it. When we took the case off of it we noticed that the tie that was supposed to hold the compressor (I think) in place was not fastened, the damaged corner could have damaged the cooling coils and there was a screw that was over torqued that broke the plastic casing. All in all it takes about an hour to install. The unit didn't work and so it was disappointing to have to take it out - haul it back to the store to return. Now I have to decide if I want to take my chances again or try a different model.
