Bought this for my Motorcycle, and it installed very easily - although I don't seem to be able to use their little screw in the back because it interferes with the "Stay-Put" neck locker. The product has 3 inserts of varying thicknesses so your GPS will fit snug up to the clear plastic covering, which does work well to touch through and work the GPS. I have not tried this with riding gloves on, so I cna only speak to touch by hand. Stays put at 70 mph. Has a rubber insert to wrap around handlebar for no-slip and to protect handlebar from scratches. Tilt head for convenient viewing. I chose this model because it had a zippered case, so I am confident on bumps that my GPS won't slip out of a claw mount, and also is protected from all dirt/debris from riding. That pretty much sums it up for my experience. For under $20 this was a great purchase.
I purchased this handlebar mount with the water resistant GPS holder for my 2001 Honda Shadow 750 motorcycle a little over a week ago. It was very easy to install and works wonderfully with all of my electronic devices ( gps, ipod touch, mp3 player and my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone). It came with 3 foam inserts that can be added or taken out (to hold the device in place against the clear window). I can't give an accurate review on how water resistant it is because I haven't had it in the rain yet. I am very pleased with my purchase and I will be more than happy to recommend it to all my motorcycle riding friends.
Mounted the the GPS holder on my Harley ultra classic. The mount that goes on the handlebar is made well but you don't want to over tighten. I would clean any wax off the bar first with rubbing alcohol. The ball and socket did want to move as I hit bumps. I moved mine so hit would rest on my switch cluster. You might want to add some type of friction to the ball.Scuff it or add some silicone. I thought if it was permanent you could glue it in position. I have a Garmin nuvi 1300 and with the foam inserts cut to fit seems secure. I rolled the excess power cord up and fit it into the case behind the GPS. Touch screen works. Well made product. The price is very reasonable. It does vibrate on my harley as you can imagine. The only complaint I have is the screen has a bad glare on a sunny day and is hard to see. If they would make it out low glare plastic that would help a lot. At night seems fine. Thought about making some type of visor to help with visibility. You can't hear the GPS but that doesn't bother me. I would recommend.
Seems to be good construction. Touch screen works well inside it. My problem was that I could not find anywhere on the description what size unit this was for. When I received it, the insert said for use with 4.3" GPS. I have a 5". I am able to get it zipped, but it pulls the seams a little and I'm not sure how long it will last like this. It may leak now. At least it wasn't expensive and I can get the correct one direct from Arkon if this one fails.
Really nice product but you cant get to the bottom buttons on a large smart phone. Also can't really get to the side buttons. There also is not enough room for the charger plug and audio out jack, unless you have 90 degree ones. That still might not work.
I bought this for my Garmin Nuvi 2595 GPS. Everyone else online wanted $25 at least for it. It is a 5", fits but I had to finesse it to fit the front. Touch screen works pretty good in the case. Cut out the backing material for the cord. Mount is really secure, and comes off easy. Does not bounce around that much and stays where I want it, even over the bumps. Had it on my ATV, need another mount for my motorcycle. Arkon says it will only fit up to a 4.3", but it fit my 5", and I am glad it did!
I purchased this to mount on the bars of my 07 Sportster, and hold my phone when I use it as a GPS. It mounted easily, right next to my windscreen mounting brackets. Because of the ball swivel mount, I can position it any way I choose. It's very deep, and came with three extra high-density foam pads to hold my phone closer to the 'front' when zipped shut. It fit my Galaxy Nexus from SAMSUNG (which has about the biggest screen) and I feel it will have no problem taking my Garmin Nuvi 5" GPS. The zipper looks fairly watertight, and there is a small point at the bottom where you can pass a cord through if desired. Overall I am very happy with this item. It's very stable and does not move around even at 'superslab' speeds.
Can't really review it since it was shipped incomplete. Handle Bar attachement wasn't included. I will say that it looked good and my GPS fit in it, but returned it and didn't reorder it. Shipping department should make sure all parts are included with order.
handle bar mounting was easy and looked good . Ball joint functioned well but the attachment to the case was a small rectangle of plastic and not up to the stress of a moving motorcycle as the case vibrated enough to make the gps unreadable at highway speeds.
The bracket is plastic and not strong enough for use on a motorcycle. The bracket failed in the second day of use from the vibration of the motorcycle.
