This is great to keep your gps and wires all in one place if you have a traffic receiving model. This also makes a gps a lot more portable as well. However, you must have a strong tight lighter socket to hold it at the angle you need. That is not the mounts fault though.
I have used this mount on a road trip. It serves the purpose. What you lose in being able to view your GPS at eye level via window mount, you make up for it being more secure than a window mount.
