Originally I wanted to go for the Cherry finish, but when it came time to purchase... no one had it. I settled on the Cognac and I am so glad I did. I absolutely love the color... but those of you who like the Cognac keep in mind, it looks like Cherry to me. The assembly was quick and easy, but the instructions are limited. I have heard other comments about the drawer being flimsy and cheap, but I think for what you are getting it works. Its not like you are keeping a weight set down there or anything. One thing I guess I didn't realize is how big is really is. It is a monster, but it does convert into other forms so it makes sense. I also got the matching changing table and dresser but haven't received them yet, so I can't tell you how well they match. As long as the flow is good I am happy! Despite the mix of reviews... I would definitely buy this crib again! We aren't due until late August, but I will let you know how it holds up... I can't move it an inch so that says something right there.
My husband and I bought this product online and were greatly anticipating its arrival after we already received the dresser/changing table combo. When we got it I was glad to see that the design style of the two pieces matches nicely. I really like the cognac color too...not quite as dark as cherry..which I hate and not too light either. I also like that the sides of the crib are solid and that if we want to sneak in and check on our son we can with out him seeing us. I also think this style crib goes well with any decor and for either gender! My husband mainly put it together by himself with not much problem..however it didn't have as much of a detailed instruction booklet like the combo dresser/changing table did and he ended up having to just look at the pictures. But non the less it took less than 1 1/2 hours and was well worth the wait to see how it completes our little guys room. I love it!
I love this crib. It was everything I expected, its sturdy and well made. It was very easy to put together. We also purchased the glider, which is great and of the same quality, however the dresser/changer combo is not good quality at all. The hardware is easy to break and the whole piece is very cheaply made. I was disappointed to see that considering the crib and glider are of good quality and very sturdy. I can't wait for our little one to get here so we can use these items.
My husband & I brought this crib before our son was born. We also purchased the Beatrice changing table and the Beatrice 5 drawer chest. Our son is now almost 3 years old and we have not had any problems!! He is a "rough and tumble" boy and the bed is still going strong!! He even kicks the sides of the bed sometimes and it still holds up. I will say that I agree with the other review about buying everything at once to make sure the color match. We did and everthing looks good. My only complant is that some of the nobs on the changing table & dresser have come off due to our son playing with them. I guess that is to be expected. So my husband and I are going to just buy some new hardware that will stand up to our son. Other than that we are very pleased. We are expecting our second child & looking to buy another Storkcraft in a different style!
After reading all the reviews for all the colors of these cribs, we decided this was the crib for us. It came in much fast than they said as we shipped it site to store. I was a bit leary of the assembly, so there were four of us on hand to assemble it. It took about 2 hours, but we were being very careful to make sure that we didn't scratch anything. Assembly was pretty straight forward once we firgured out where all the instructions were. (The side panel instructions were in the box with the hardware and the rest were on a sticker on the board that the matress sits on.) Overall, it was a simple thing. We were all impressed with how sturdy it is and how nice it looks. In certian light, it looks a bit more cherry, but that isn't a concern for us. There was only one superfical scratch in the varnish on the headboard (back of crib) that we could just put on the back side of the crib. I will agree that the drawer is a bit flimsy in comparison to the rest of the crib. The sides are also rather short, so I'm not really sure that we will use it for anything. We did consider not putting it on, but decided to in the end. If you have the crib matress all the way up to the top setting, I would strongly suggest a dust ruffle. (As you can see in the picture, we don't have one yet, but I did order one.) The only other issue that I found was that the parts were not labeled very well. Eventually, we realized that some parts had stickers on them, but we were pretty good at figuring out the left and rights. We did have a few extra pieces that took us a bit to figure out too. They are the sides of the foot rail for the double bed and bottom rail for the toddler bed. It would have been nice if they were labeled. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with this crib.. we won't have a little one to put in there for a few months, but right now, it's perfect. We also ordered a dresser and glider rocker... please see my reviews for those products. They were also in cognac.
My husband and I are first time parents and have been searching for the perfect crib for months now. Every where I looked it seemed that all the cribs now were made with mostly particle board. Something I did NOT want! I was very skeptical for ordering something online that I had never seen before nor was sure of the color I was to receive. We wanted something that our child could grow with for years. I was very nervous after reading several reviews about damaged products and colors not matching, but we decided to order the crib and aspen 3 drawer combo dresser/changer as well. I want to say how VERY VERY SATISFIED I am with my product! We had it shipped to our local store and it arrived within 2 weeks. I insisted that my husband immedialty pick it up and get started. The crib only took him an hour and 1/2 to put together and his mother helped by holding up parts for him. The only thing that I didn't find satisfactory was the drawer underneith the crib, but we didn't order this piece for the drawer. It actully took my husband 2 hours to assemble the drawer and it is very flimsy. He ended up as other reviews said having to glue it together. It was frustrating. The Dresser and Crib match perfectly and I used the Fisher Price Rainforest crib bedding and it matched the Congac perfectly. The color was what I wanted but not expected. Its a little more of a cherry finish but a light cherry finish. I LOVE IT and will probably order it if we have another child as well!!!
We absolutely love this crib. It is such a beautiful design, very classy, sturdy & it seems so big once it is assembled. Assembly is also very easy. I was able to put this together by myself. The only complaint I have is with the style (which my husband & I picked). There are no spindles on the ends to tie the bumper to. I knew that before we ordered it, but we loved the style so much it didn't matter. I loosened the rail slides on each side and attatched the front ties to those. It also matches the 5 drawer chest perfectly. This is a great crib at a great price. This same crib is $70 more at Target and Babies R Us. Site to Store is also very convenient.
I bought this for my daugther who is expecting her first child. It was fairly easy to put together. We had a little trouble trying to line up the holes for the screws on one of the sides, but otherwise it was nice once put together.
This crib is very nice, we bought one and low and behold we needed another the following year. It is a little difficult to put together, have a partner and lots of patience, but well worth the end. I have used all 3 levels of the mattress so far and it is very easy to change to different levels, again with a partner but easy. I was worried about the side panels because they seemed to be very thin sheets of paneling and my 16 month old is a head banger, but it is holding up just fine, the thin sheets are stronger than I thought. There is a nice drawer underneath also, we use for extra blankets. We even bought the dresser and the changing table to match, great set. When we do finally use this as a full size bed though, we have to buy the parts for it, I recommend buying them as soon as possible and storing them in case you cannot find them later. We bought the Cognac stain and it is so sophisticated looking and looks like it is more than what we paid.
This is a sturdy and attractive crib. It is fairly easy to assemble and I like the solid side panels that allow for sneaky parents to check on baby without baby seeing you. The only thing about the crib that is negative is the drawer. The bottom panel is very thin and flimsy and meant for only a few light items. It really needs to be glued upon assemby. However, you can always choose not to install the drawer at all. It is a pretty good crib. If you are planning to order other pieces to go with it, please read on: I had a problem with the manufacturer. I ordered this crib along with the matching dresser and changing table, only the dresser did not match. Since it was the first piece that had arrived, we had gotten excited and already assembled it (complete with the aforementioned glue the drawers require) before we realized this issue. The other two pieces came with a slightly different model #, manufacture date (difference of 1 year), and manufacture location (completely different country). They informed me that since they post a disclaimer that they do not guarantee that their pieces will match, they are not obligated to fix this obvious mistake. Therefore, I am stuck with a nursery that doesn't match. All in all, I would highly recommend to anyone that they wait until all pieces are in before they start assembly. That way, any that do not match can be returned and you can try again (hopefully with success) to receive a matching piece. That would be if you choose to go through that process, however, I would personally not recommend this product if you are going to order it with other pieces.
