For those who are running VPN on their router to tunnel all local network device internet traffic (i.e. smartphones, smart TVs, desktop PCs, laptops, tablets etc) the performance gain due to hardware crypto acceleration is over 500%. Exactly what we were looking for. I highly recommend the use of the Merlin firmware, although the stock isn't shabby.
Great router, I'm impressed with the strong 5 GHz signal I get on the second story of my house with the router on the first floor, this router is better than any router that my internet provider has ever provided hands down. I would strongly recommend this router to anyone nearing a good router.

Excellent! Probably the fastest router I have ever owned. I opted for this model over an AX because I didn't feel I needed it, it was a great decision. It appears that the data throughput is very high, especially on WIFI where my other AC router was horrible. I also love the user interface, showing exactly the information I need on the main screen without having to dig deep into menus. I had never considered owning an Asus router before, but this one has totally changed my opinion. I purchased based on price and I have been more than pleased. Thank you Asus.

This is yet another outstanding ASUS router. I don't need Wifi-6, so I got this model. Set-up was easy. The GUI is classic ASUS with lots of functionality. Download speeds are impressive. I am pleased with this device.
I upgraded from an older Asus router to this model, and there seems to be something wrong with it. It seems to randomly drop all 2.4 GHz Wifi connections (5 GHz seem ok). It won't reconnect until I reboot the router or turn the 2.4 GHz radio off and on again. I've been trying to collect enough data to submit a ticket to Asus, since I'm pretty sure it's a router issue. Other than this issue I'm very happy with the router.
Everything so far on this router seems to be running very smoothly compared to other routers i have had in the past. The ONLY thing i really hate hate about it is the lack of wall mount that is securely mounted to the wall.. All they recommend is a wall hook and hang it drom that. I live near an airport and sometimes it vibrates my house and everything i have is secure mounted to the wall not just hanging there.
Am very pleased with this router, very easy to set-up and provides great network and internet coverage. All of my printers work fine using the LAN ports. Deducted 1 star because the Time Machine functionality doesn't work, Apple / MacOS uses an APS file system for its backups, the router only sees FAT, HFS, and EX-FAT - so my Mac laptop can't communicate with the remote hard drive to perform backups. The physical configuration isn't ideal either, standing upright like it does. would have been a nicer appearance if laying flat like most other routers.
This product worked flawlessly, until it DIDNT. It has been a little over a year and this product just stopped working... I had to reprogram the entire house to the spectrum wifi...
