As a Network Engineer of 30 years specializing in WiFi, I have seen a lot of WiFi routers, both professional quality and consumer, that make claims they dont live up too. I read a lot of reviews and recommendations and even purchased another brand before buying the Asus and returned it due to poor quality. I decided to give Asus a try and am very happy with both the quality, speed, and ease of initial set up. My house is 2 floors and 2600 sq ft. I have no problems with signal drop or speed anywhere in the house. Even outside my speed is impressive. I have ATT 1G fiber and get 700 to 800Mbps in the family room 30 feet from the router. I get around 600Mbps at the furthest point away on the second floor. So far 2 of my IT buddies have purchased one of these amd love it as well
I replaced an older ASUS unit that was still doing the job, but wanted to update my entire network to WiFi 6. Because of the construction material of our larger older home (6000 sf), I had hard-wired 3 other access points and 2 range extenders to cover the entire house. With this unit and a pair of ASUS Zen WiFi 6 units I cover the same ground with faster and more robust signals. The best thing is now I have one network SSID, so one password throughout. It was also very easy to setup using the ASUS app. I wouldn't buy anything else!
This is a great router to pair up with you spectrum internet. I work from home and need a reliable system. After many hours of searching and reading reviews I landed on this one. The router is super easy to set up. ASUS also did an amazing job when creating there smart phone app that guides you through the set up process. You can even log in to your router through you home computer where you can use the advance set up option. Final take away, great unit and highly recommend.
A fantastic gaming router with all the features I'm looking for for hassle free gaming on my PS5! Setup was very easy and I like all the pro gaming settings ASUS offers!
I am an electrical engineer who purchased 3 of these units for a home mesh network. Setup was very easy, and I was able to migrate settings from the ASUS RT-AC86U to the RT-AC86X. Great routers for small business or home mesh networks. Router also has guest networks available on both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.
This is an excellent device. Very powerful, mush better than the competition.
I replaced an older router from another company with this Asus as the older router could no longer handle all the devices connected to that 3 year old router. The ASUS is performing splendidly. It is installed in the unfinished part of basement of a two story house. Excellent reception throughout whole house. Our Spectrum is a 300/10 Mbps service (Speed tests show higher) even two floors up, my phone measures 300 plus download speeds wirelessly. All corners of the house covered easily. An easy recommendation. Love the interface too 👍
I have only had it a week but so far I am happy. The set up was a bit tricky but I made it through. Love my router.
Very easy to set up and get going. My task was simplified because my PC sits right next to the router. Once it was plugged in to a USB port and the router came on, the start up information appeared on the PC screen. For me this was much simpler than downloading the app on my Smartphone.
This a really great router, it has a ton of features. That one that stands out the most for me personally, the gaming port. I play video games, I noticed there's no longer a lag when it's on gaming setting. I also enables port forwarding for specific game which is within the Router Settings
