Follow directions saturate item. Let dry until Odor is gone.
Used this product to waterproof a nylon rain jacket. It worked very well.
spray worked like a charm on my new boots. just in time for this last snowstorm.
Works well at a great price point. Much lower cost than other water repellant sprays. Buy the 10oz size online vs the slightly larger “in store” cans for best price/oz. Need to saturate the cloth/fabric! First time I sprayed an even, dampish coat but did not saturate. Some spots were not completely waterproofed at the next rain. I resprayed an even but saturating WET (not just damp or moist) application and its very much water proofed now. Sounds like a lot but I used a full 10oz can for one heavier jacket and 2 wet passes on a light windbreaker. Extra coats inside and out on the hoods for protection. Have purchased three times (12-14 cans) so far. Stocked up on my new “go to” spray before they go up in price
Its more like "so far so good" really. I've only experienced this through one rain downpour on my outdoor umbrella and boy did the rain pour off of it in sheets. I'll see how it goes over time but for now, I really dig it and plan to buy more. It sprays on and works with just one coat. One and 2/3rd's of a can did a 8' round umbrella awning and a 9' off the wall umbrella awning. I used more because in the beginning I wasn't sure what I was doing but when I saw the product dripping off the awning, I knew I was saturating it more than I needed to. I got the hang of it on the second application so didn't use as much, probably could have done both umbrella's with one can. I'm going to do my hammock next.
This stuff really works good, I use for everything that needs to be waterproofed. Fake flowers included.
Being that it rains in Washington a whole bunch, silicone is important, but you don't want everything to look or smell like it. Seeing that I wanted this for shoes that I wear outside, neither was much of a factor, as the shoes are black. The instructions say one spray, let dry over night. I gave it a covering spray, & gave it about a day & a half. Rained pretty much all day today, & the shoes were quite dry. I only wiped them off, before applying this silicone, as they weren't dirty. A little worn, but not dirty. The shine (see picture) goes away in about an hour, & any smell, is gone the next day. There really isn't a strong odor or smell anyhow. I will probably spray one of my jackets next, something I've done for my hiking coats before. Just to help it along a bit, as it is cloth. There is a little bit of a 'feel' on the laces, & pretty much will be on the jacket when I spray it, but it isn't bad, & you really won't notice. This is the same can, but the one I picked up at my local Walmart, had a bit more in it.
I ordered two cans of the Silicone Water-Guard. The purpose of this spray was for several reasons. (1) We wanted treat our two outdoor umbrellas. (2) We wanted to treat (spray) our outdoor patio cushions. This product really, really works! When it rained and rained, recently, the rain water did not soak into the cushions. The water beaded right off, which is very nice. I was impressed! This means no mildew or mold on our new patio furniture cushions. In addition, we treated an 11-ft. California outdoor umbrella as well as a 9-ft CA umbrella. This product really helps to protect the fabric (material) of the umbrellas and cushions in two ways. (1) The water rolls right off, so water does not soak into the fabric (material) preventing mold or mildew. (2) It helps in preventing fading the fabric/material on the umbrellas and cushions. My niece borrowed the spray to treat her tent when she went on a camping trip recently. She loves the product, and said it was nice to protect her new tent (which she purchased at Walmart). She was definitely a "Happy Camper!" If you have portable chairs that you take to the beach and/or parks, I highly recommend treating your portable chairs. There is a difference between water-proofing and water-resistant. This product is definitely water-resistant. We treated our items with one even coating of the Silicone Water-Guard. Shake the can every 30-45 seconds. We ended up purchasing two more cans, at the store, as we ran out of the product. This is a very good product for the price-point. For all of the above stated reasons, I definitely recommend the Silicone Water-Guard. This is a spray (not a foam) Why do I recommend this product? Because it really, really, really works and helps to protect your items in several ways. The end-result is YOUR items will last a lot longer, and you will not need to replace them for several years -- saving you money. I am very pleased with how it works and how easy it is to use. The fragrance is very minimal. It is not an overly powerful chemical smell. If you are sensitive to fragrance, wear a mask or have someone else spray it for you.
Just writing this to warn that it takes 48 hours to cure and you can't use the tent while it is curing. Don't wait til the last minute to order this or to put it on like I did. I had to go camping with out it because of it.
Walmart tells you it's free shipping, but I had to go there for other reasons and find the exact same item for everyday price that was $3.50 LESS each than I paid online!
