Perfect phone for elderly (and others too)! Over the past few years we have bought three of these phones - One for the kitchen, one for the La-Z-Boy chair, and one for the bedroom) for our elderly father who uses hearing aids and has lost his sight, and he uses the speakerphone feature and the speed dial feature, and they work great! For some speed dial numbers, we have attached tactile dots or bumps to certain numbers so that he knows which buttons to press.
We love the big screen and numbers on this phone. The screen tilts so I can see who is calling from a distance. The date and time are always on the screen also. Love that we can increase the volume to hear the caller better. We haven't used the audio assist number yet but glad it is available. Speaker phone is a great feature also.
The only reason that I clicked dislike for the screen is because I was under the impression that it lit up. But it is very nice to be able to tilt it and to see who's calling and so simple to just hit speaker if you want to take the call. The range is great. I have tested it out. I can walk into other rooms and still carry on a conversation with a person with no problem at all. I love the big buttons. Its easy to see if youve had missed calls so thats a plus. Im very happy with the phone and recommend it to other seniors.

I misunderstood one review that stated no batteries were needed. This isn't true. 4 Alkaline AA batteries must be inserted to power the many features of the phone. It displays numbers that called you, a directory you insert and dials entries easily. The display is not bright and not easily read. Still, the phone is a good buy - providing it lasts for several years.
I purchased this phone as a replacement for my old desk phone. For the price it is a good phone, the display is very clear, the control buttons and numeric keys are easy to use, the speaker phone is clear and the handset is clear. My criticisms would be that there is nowhere you can plug in an external power supply, you have to use 4 AA batteries, the handset cord is too short and the display does not light up when you receive a call. All in all it is good value for money.
Bought this phone to hang on the kitchen wall. It's not mountable. The handset kept falling off. Also, it's hard to find a long coil cord that fits into the phone. The number buttons are big and the ringer is loud. It has amplification but if it's set on the highest amplification, you'll hear a whistling sound. The caller ID is big but does not have a back light. In a dark room, you can't see who is calling. It would have been a good phone to mount because the caller ID can be seen from a distance but it's not mountable.
Nice phone. Caller ID is large. Not a lot of extraneous buttons. Not sure why 1/3 of the display is used for the model number. Would be better if the display was backlit. Even with the tilting display and large lettering, it is hard to read. It needs batteries instead of plugging into an outlet. (not sure if it said that in the specifications) I would recommend it as long as the person I recommended it to knows about my comments. I noticed now that a non-Wal-Mart retailer is listed on Wal-Mart website has the same phone that is backlit. Oops on my part.
The instructions are very simplistic and do not offer much detail. Regardless I was able to complete the setup. Was able to add listings to the directory but could not dial from there. But the worst feature is the speakerphone. While I'm able to hear the other party well enough, they cannot understand my speaking. “Too tinny”, “Did you just go to another room?”, “That's just horrible!” These are some of the nicer responses I received.
