I bought this phone for my dad who has dementia. Was able to program it for speed dial so he can call us using 1 key. Easy to program, hearing aid compatible, loud settings for ringer and vibration, large screen. It couldn't be more perfect for a senior. I previously purchased a phone designed for seniors and it fell apart quickly. Moreover, though, it was confusing for him to use! This is so easy!!! I see reviews about software etc. For folks who want that, they need a different phone. This fits a wonderful niche. I highly recommend it. I would love to write a review for AARP o this phone :-)
I bought this phone for my mother in law because she prefers flip phones. She had seen a phone like this that another company offered at one point and was disappointed we did not have one. This phone reminds me of the high end flip phones before smart phones. The clear large screen and large keypad are easy to use for everyone and the 3 favorite contact buttons at the top of the keypad are very helpful.
I like this phone once you give it a few tweaks here and there. It has better reception than an iPhone and I can actually enjoy using it with an included MP3 player, much like the phones "Cingular Wireless" once had. I would recommend to all who want a rich internet experience without the bells and whistles of a smartphone.
I only gave it 4 stars because I had to go to the att store to get it to download pictures via text. they did a factory reset. I haven't figured out how to make it accept Bluetooth without my approval, with approval it works great and sound great. When talking on it, the voice of my mumbling son is easy to understand, this is the first cell phone I have been able to hear him on without going huu.
Took a chance on this phone in spite of so many bad reviews that I suspect are from people that expect too much from a basic phone. I bought this for my 84 year old mother who only makes and receives calls. She does not text, take pictures or use the internet so this phone is fine. Picture qualiy is lacking but that is not important to my mom. We did have to choose a ringtone that had the right tones she could hear. Also you have to place it face down on a table or the speaker is too muffled for even me to hear. Can hear incoming calls just fine. Love the 3 speed dial buttons. Well lit and good size buttons. She likes the small size too. She is well pleased with it. Overall it's a fine basic phone. Don't let the bad reviews scare you off if all you want is to make and receive calls for a cheap price!
I am a senior female, and bought this phone back in September of 2016. At this point, I will say that for a simple flip-type phone, it serves my needs. The biggest drawback is that I miss a text or call notification OFTEN, when I lay the phone right-side up, on a SOFT surface. The speaker "slot" is on the underside, and will prevent one from hearing the phone ring, or sound for an incoming text. This is the case, even with the volume all the way up, and the phone is right next to me. (I am not hearing impaired). The only thing to remedy this issue, is to lay the phone upside down, if placing on a couch, chair, etc.
Liked this phone but had trouble hearing calls. Then after 4 months speaker blew out.for cost of repair bought a new phone instead The LGB470.The sound and clarity are much better. But preferred the size of keyboard/screen on the cingular.Hopefully this LG holds up longer than 4 months.Never had a cingular before with such a short life, had an older cingular for years that held up better than the new, improved models.Don't care to buy a new phone every few months.
It is a known issue with this model that it comes without internet and picture messaging out of the box. The tech at the Device Support Center was awesome and able to get the working, but not the MMS. Over the phone tech support "fixed" it, but it really wasn't fixed.
I have had this phone 4 months shy of a year. I like a flip phone as I have a health issue that requires larger buttons. Flip phones usually provide these. However, the phone is impossible for me to open. It needs to be pried open. Then there's the volume issue. No matter what you scroll through there is no way you can adjust this phone so you can hear it ring. Now, here's the kicker, all of a sudden the phone stopped working when you called someone unless it was on speakerphone. I could not get incoming calls for the same reason no volume. I could not retrieve voicemails, again no volume. On the bright side I was able to text someone but couldn't hear their text coming to me. So, ever so often I would have two check my phone to see if anyone texted me. Needless to say I'm presently shopping for a new phone. If anyone has a suggestion on what to buy please let me know.
We bought this phone for my husband. He cannot hear it ring because the speaker is on the back. I need to replace the phone as soon as possible. We purchased the phone as a flip phone for his convenience and he does not need a data plan. Happy with out plan. He had a Rugby phone previously, until it was worn out. Thinking about getting another. Now that we are retired expense for purchasing the phone is definitely a huge factor
