i have used this mic with my canon camcorder to record lectures and it does an excellent job. sound quality is great. i highly recommend it
I HAVE USED THIS MIC TO DO STANDUPS FOR A SHOW I AIR ON OUR LOCAL NBC AND ABC STATIONS . I HAVE USED IT FOR YEARS AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS. IT DOES WHAT I NEED FOR THE MONEY IT COST.
I've been using the PRO 88 for about four years for my YouTube productions, and consider it good value, with very good sound. Unobstructed range is about 25 feet. Expect heavy interference from florescent light fixtures. I gave it unreliable rating due to its lack of a battery level indicator, combined with heavy battery use, that has resulted in numerous outages during use that have spoiled entire takes unexpectedly. AT provides a 9V DC adapter input on the receiver, but they offer no compatible AC adapter product to plug to it. No jack is provided on the transmitter, which would be nice to use with a portable battery pack. It's a decent system, but its hard battery use and unreliable battery life really downgrades it for any serious use.
I really like the mic and the system. It was working great but then it suddenly stopped working. I have been able to determine that it was the mic that came with it that is the culprit. I went to the local Henry's and they suggested i purchase the ATR3350iS as a replacement. However, it is clunky and there is so much wire to it since it is intended to be used as a stand alone mic rather than wireless that it is defeating the wireless purpose to the mic. One has to carry around a pouch to hold all the wire or make sure that they have a pocket to put it in. I'm pretty disappointed that what was a simple clean wireless system is not so clean any more. I'm not sure how long the mic is supposed to last but i didn't use it very often, maybe a handful of times and in a very gentle environment. Maybe I got a dud?
If I hook another mic to the system it works fine but does not with the mic that came with it. I have tried boosting the levels on the camera, swapping channels, and switching from MIC to Line input to no avail. (Originally in MIC position and reverted back) I even tried hooking the mic up to my computer to see what I would get. If I put the level up to 100% and the Boost up full I barely get any level from the mic.
