Love these bottles, nice wide mouth makes it easier to get in and scrub them clean. My sister in law used them with both her kids and loved them. Don't have any problems with leak, vent great so my baby doesn't get gassy. Would buy them again. Only bottle to use
I'm not sure why these bottles have gotten such negative reviews. I bought a set and loved them so much that I went back and got more! No problems with leaking. Just don't tighten the lid too tight. My baby seems to take them very well and they don't cause too much gas.
i started on playtex drop ins bottles and noticed my 1 month old started getting fussy, then i bought dr. browns which are wonderful but had SO many pieces... so one of my friends suggested avent bottles. i bought the bottles to try them out and theyre great. no leaks or anything. he's already sleeping through the night with these bottles because his gas isnt building up. i dont even have to pat his back to burp him, he burps himself ! i definitely recommend these bottles.
Tried these with my first son with formula b/c I can't produce milk. They leaked like crazy! So I started using Dr. Brown's. I hated all the pieces but what can you do? When my second son was born we started out with Dr.B's. I decided I didn't have time for all the pieces and tried these again b/c I got them on clearance for $4 for 2 of them!!! They are VERY MUCH improved! No leaks ... not one! And only 3 pieces to wash!
Don't get the soft plastic ones. I don't know why there are different kinds. The ones advertised here on the Walmart website are the good kind..the hard plastic ones. But Babies R Us sells the ones that are softer plastic with an extra piece that goes in before you screw the top on...DO NOT BUY THAT KIND! But I have never had any problem with the ones Walmart sells. I have used them on 2 out of 3 babies and love them!!! I'm not sure why everyone is having problems with these??
I first bought Avent bottles when due to medical reasons I had to quite nursing suddenly and the lactation consultant at my pediatrician's office recommended this brand. At first I really disliked them, although my daughter was having no problems adjusting to the bottle using these, because they leaked. It turns out that I was overtightening them! Since realizing that I use a much gentler hand screwing on the nipples and haven't had anymore leakage. It does mention this in the directions that come with the product but who would have guessed it was THAT important a guideline to follow? The lactation consultant also said to completely skip the stage one/newborn-flow nipple because it's too slow and baby burns more calories trying to get the liquid out of the bottle than they take in while eating. I started my daughter with a stage 2 (two holes) nipple and have never had any problems (other than the leaking which was my own fault!)
This is the fourth bottle I have tried with my 4 month old. I like that the nipple doesn't cave in, and that it doesn't have all these tiny pieces to clean. Great on reducing gas/colic too! Easier for an infant to start to hold on their own. So much better than the top two brands. They are a pain. Yes, Avent can be leaky, but you need to just reposition the nipple and you are good to go!
Got this set and the newborn set as shower gifts a few months ago - started using for formula about 1 month ago (with a 2-month old baby) who's also breast-fed. Have not had any leaks or problems. These are the yellow/honey-colored hard/clear plastic bottles. Have used both the 4 oz. with #1 nipples and 9 oz. with #2 nipples. Have not done anything special (i.e. wetting the nipples before attaching them) - just pull the nipple through the ring until it clicks, make sure it's in there snugly and don't over-tighted the ring/nipple when you screw it onto the bottle. These bottles/nipples (along with a change of formula) have virtually eliminated my baby's gas and spitting up. Hopefully they will continue to work well as time goes on. Like the wide mouth - easier to make the formula and easier to clean. We don't like to mix/shake formula with the nipples on, so we bought some sealing discs to use for mixing and storage. Ideally these (or caps/lids) would be included with the bottles, like Medela does.
I bought these bottles because they came highly recommended but Im not so sure I would recommend them to another mom. I had leak problems no matter how many times I would check that the bottle was put together right. Sometimes they would leak and sometimes they wouldn't. The rubber ring was positioned right but sometimes when I would tip the bottle up to feed my daugther, out it would dribble. For the price of these bottles, it's just not worth it. I expected a lot more. Not a fan.
There's nothing like having your baby wake up at 3 am crying hysterically and hungry and when you go to feed her the bottle leaks all over the place so you have to take it out, try to unscrew the nipple that you had screwed on as tightly as possible (tough once you have milk all over your hands from the leaking) while she screams. Then you have to drag your tired self to the kitchen holding a screaming baby so you can rinse off your hands and the bottle so you can unscrew the nipple. This happens all the time for both me and my husband. We've tried all the tips online to prevent the leaks and we still get leaks at least 50% of the time. I would not recommend this product at all. We would have switched already but she's used to the nipple and between that nipple and nursing she can't handle a different nipple. But as my husband says, "I've wanted to throw that bottle across the room several times in frustration."
