The glue goes on purple but it dries clear so no need to worry about the glue showing up on your work. There is no mess like with traditional glue since it is in stick form. You can keep a tube in every room since this comes in a pack of six.

My school aged kids have used these several times already, and their projects have all held up well. I have used these glue sticks for my own little projects for the Elf on the shelf, and I am very pleased with the results. They are in kindergarten and second grade and when they craft or do school projects this glue is very helpful because they can see where they are putting it (because of the purple color), but it dries clear so the excess that ultimately always ends up around the edges can't be seen.

However, I wouldn't use 6 at a time, but I will use them in the long run just in case I run out. I would mainly use them for school assignments. It takes forever to use all of them and when I'm on the last one, I sometimes forget to buy more because I always think there is another one in the drawer.
