When the residents of Dream Land suddenly lose the power to dream, the peaceful land falls into turmoil. It soon becomes apparent that King Dedede has stolen the Star Rod, the source of power for the Fountain of Dreams, and given its fragmented pieces to his underlings for safekeeping.
