I used this on a Georgia summer evening during prime mosquito/gnat time. It did work well if you cover most of the exposed skin- I didn't cover my arms, but put stripes of it on. No bugs bothered me, and it was very long lasting. The citronella scent is strong (probably a necessity with this product ?) so if you aren't fond of that fragrance, maybe try something else.
If I could give this 10 stars, I would. I have used Badger Anti-Bug Balm for years now, in Michigan hikes by marshes, in woods, in the UP, out west in the high desert and canyons, and in the mountains. It works, it works, it works. No DEET, no harsh chemicals, safe, and it smells great. Easy to apply. I teach, and I carry extra Badger on hikes with other teachers and with students. Every time, someone asks what I use, because I do not get bit (if I haven't already shared my anti-bug balm). I lead and organize hikes, and buy extra Badger, so my hikers are protected. I could sell this product to anyone, because I believe in it so much, and I have proof that it works.
The mosquitoes hung/sniffed around & did not like what they smelled! No bites for anyone including our child who is allergic to mosquitoes (and they go right after her first). We were using oil of lemon eucalyptus, but you can't use under 3 so we are very happy with finding this bug stick! And it doesn't sweat off. Awesome!
I haven't used this on myself but I've used it on my daughter and it seems to work. I feel good about having a product that I can trust on her toddler skin. And it's super easy to apply! I bought the small stick to try it out and will be buying the bigger size next time!
After using both the local and U.S. versions of Off repellent, I once left the Philippines with 30 mosquito bites - it was miserable. On my next visit, I used Badger Anti-Bug Balm on myself and my daughter, and we got ZERO bites! My husband, who didn't apply it as regularly, got a few bites. I LOVE this stuff and I recommend it to everyone! When I'm going to a place with lots of biting bugs, I make sure to apply it to all exposed skin, and I back it up with the chemical sprays on our clothes. But I've noticed that generally, Badger is enough on its own. It's easy to apply, one stick lasts a long time (about 2-3 months for us), and I've come to actually like the scent (it was a little strong for me at first, but I got used to it). One warning - it can melt in very hot weather, so I keep mine in a ziplock bag to ensure it doesn't leak onto other items. If it ever does leak into the ziplock, I can still scrape it out and use it!
Lightly rub some on fingertips, brush fingers over lower pants boots & socks - wrists & neck as well. Has kept me 99.9% tick free for three years.(Outdoors 52 wks per yr) Had 1 dog tick, not "deer".
Before walking my dogs in the usually humid South, I apply Bug Balm to my face because heat and humidity bring out gnats. I hate them in my face and they are hard to swat with two dog leashes in my hands. Bug Balm keeps gnats at bay so my walks are more enjoyable. I use it daily in the summer and am wet pleased with the results.
This I my favorite bug repellent. It is in a non spill, no waste form, easy to apply. The package is lightweight and super easy to carry in a small space. I live I the tropics surrounded by deep forest and this insect repellent keeps the bugs off of me all year round
Love this! It actually works. I was impressed. I like to keep one handy multiple places: car, stroller, diaper bag etc. Quick, easy mess free!
I love the stick form! It's easy to travel with and to apply, especially on the knees and around the ankles. I'm not crazy about the scent, but at least it's less concentrated than the spray.
