I bought this at the local store, have been canning for over 40 years and once in a while your not going to get a lid right. This tool takes all the guess work out. For the most part, I'm right on the money but when using the Sure Tight Tool, I had some that needed a little more. Since using it, I haven't had any jars to reprocess. So far this season, I have canned some 367 jars and still canning. I plan on 1093 meals a year so if I put up close to five to six hundred jars I'm good. So just to double check my lids is time saving in the long run. I advise this for the beginner or anyone who cans on a regular basis....Happy Canning
The jar tightening tool is the best canning accessory I have ever bought. I have some griping issues, and have always hating dealing with the hot rings. Every jar has sealed. Ping Ping Ping. Yipeeeee!
I decided to try canning for the first time this year but had no one to show me how tight "tight enough" really is. Since this was less than $10 it seemed like a good investment and it turned out to be the thing I'm most pleased with. I was very surprised at how (relatively) little it takes to get lids to the proper tightness, and am fairly sure I'd have overdone it if I hadn't used this tool. Anyway, short story kinda long, counting "plinks" was very satisfying and I have recommended this tool to a couple other people who want to learn to can.
