There are so many negative comments and I don't understand why. I decided to buy this product after years of hating how pale I am, and now I'm obsessed! They must have re-reformulated it because the bottle I just got is amazing. It is white, which makes it a little bit difficult to make sure you put it everywhere but the color I get makes everything worth it. I'm usually as white as snow, and I've been getting comments all the time about how nice my tan looks! It's not even orange at all. This is my routine, hopefully this will help some of you achieve the right results. 1.) I exfoliate in the shower with a scrub 2.) I shave 3.) I wash my body like normal 4.) I get out and dry my body 5.)I apply lotion on the areas that you're not supposed to put the self tanner 6.) I apply the self tanner 7.) I leave it on ALL night and sometimes even part of the next day. Boom! When I rinse it off (usually anywhere from 8-16 hrs after applying) my tan is still there and super perfect! I think people aren't leaving it on long enough, because my tan doesn't develop unless it's on there for at least 8 hrs.
This was my tried and true self tanner back in high school. I applied it constantly and was always super dark. I went to tanning beds for awhile and stopped and decided to start self tanning. I've tried a lot of self tanner since then and decided to try my tried and true again 7 years later. I read a lot of bad reviews because of it being dye free now.. it's still my favorite! There's no color guide now, but I can't till most definitely tell where I'm applying it. I always exfoliate and shave first to get the best application possible. I have no streaks, no patches and it still works 100% the same. It's that same nostalgic smell I've been missing. Thank you banana boat for this gem! I will forever be a banana boat lover. The picture is after just one use and after rinsing off and I'm usually very very pale.
LOVE THIS STUFF especially for the price. Used to I would shower at night and then apply it all over and I would do the same thing the next night recently I decided to shower plus shave and all the things and apply it and then shower in the morning and it lasts a couple days and is honestly beautiful ya your gonna be blotchy if you miss those areas that's with any mouse or lotion;) if you want to save money but have a good tan get this 🤎definitely recommend putting lotion on ankles, elbows, feet, and knees I made the mistake of never doing that before recently it MAKES A DIFFERENCE idk if the pics are a good before and after but I tried to find before and after hope this helps

Not orange...no streaks....goes on easy leaves skin very soft...looks real......multiple applications to darken color
I really like this product. It's a tinted lotion so it makes the application process much easier and less streaks or missed areas. Great color too!!! My only complaint is how splotchy it is between the applications. I do exfoliate daily and maybe that is why but I also have eczema. It just makes it difficult to enjoy it like the rest of the consumers when I have to wait to apply it. I highly recommend this product though.
the lotion works good and has a nice scent, just make sure you pay attention when applying it around your ankles and knees.....just like they say, it will make those areas extremely dark, making them appear as though they are "dirty"
I used to love the old tinted version on this product. It was silky, provided some instant color, and eventually developed into a natural- looking, golden tan. It has changed into a white lotion now and comes out looking very orange. I’m so bummed bc I loved the old product so much and used it religiously. Guess I’ll be hunting for a new product unless they switch the formula back. It was good while it lasted! Here’s a photo of me with the new formula and one with the old formula. New formula makes me look like a carrot next to my friends !
Changing to this new “dye free” formula was a huge mistake! I am not surprised to see that many others agree! Yes, it still smells fine and isn’t sticky/greasy, but it now leaves horrible streaks because you can’t tell where you have applied it on your skin. The result is embarrassing and a very obvious fake tan. I used the old formula all the time and always got comments about how great my tan was which led me to recommend the product to family and friends. If Banana Boat listens to all these reviews and returns to the old product, I would be thrilled and will happily go back to purchasing it regularly. Until then, there is no use buying this new formula.
The new "White Dye Free Formula does NOT work. After 12 Hours no sign of a Tan. I should have been dark by now. Extremely upset over the new product. No Immediate Bronze/Glow and even after waiting until next day...No Tan. Ruined a very good product. PLEASE BRING BACK YOUR OLD FORMULA!!!!
