My daughter is 6 and absolutely loves this toy. She keeps asking me where we can get more just like it so she can tell her friends at school. She sleeps with this toy!! Cannot get her to put it down no matter what we do!! She was so excited to get this!! Cannot wait to add more of these to our household!! My 5 year old granddaughter really liked the surprise Barbie Color Reveal! We were expecting a Pet- Shimmer Series, I believe it was meant to be a unicorn. So she was a bit disappointed. She did enjoy opening the four surprise packs, her puppy came out of the package being purple. Once she put it in water it turned blue. The surprises were better than I expected. We got a leash, a bow, a bone and I forget what else. Dog ended up being blue which was weird but the birthday girl was happy with it. The case it comes in has a hinge and clasp and works great at containing all the little barbie trinkets. I probably would buy this again.
First of all the directions that come with this toy are poor and I don't think toys should need directions in general but when your child asks you to “assemble” what they think should be assembled, some clarification is needed. In this case, my granddaughter was trying to attach a leash to the dog but neither of us could figure it out. The leash attaches to the top of the dog's head. Who knew?? The dog can attach to a ring to be worn on the finger and the dog can wear a bow on its head. So far I have not seen my child use it as a leashed dog with a doll and she plays with dolls a lot. I gave it 3 stars because she really liked wearing the dog ring while she played but did not use it to interact or play act with the other dolls. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
