All my three year old wanted this year was a Barbie Diamond Castle and it was well worth it. It's as tall as she is and super easy to put together (if you can ever get past all the twist ties that hold it in the box). I would definitely recommend it.
We got this for my 3 y/o daughter for Christmas and she loves it. It has a really neat light show when you push the button. She plays for hours a day with it. It comes with a Liana barbie doll, but we bought the "dressed up" Liana and Alexa to go with it.
ALL MY 3 YR OLD ASK FOR WAS A DIAMOND CASTLE FOR HER BDAY. I COULD HAVE ONLY GOTTEN HER THAT. SHE WAS VERY EXCITED, HER EYES LIT UP AND SHE GAVE A BIG "WOW". IT IS VERY COLORFUL, BIGGER THAN I EXPECTED. AND WE BOTH HAVE A GREAT TIME PLAYING WITH IT. BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT!!!!!
i used the site-to-store option, & it definitely looked smaller in the picture. the box it comes in takes up an entire cart! once i got it home; however, it was a breeze to put together. picture instructions were not the greatest, but it wasn't rocket science, so they weren't too hard to figure out. above all else, my 4 yr old daughter absolutely loves it... and as a parent, it was worth it!
100 bucks is a bit excessive for an all plastic, semi-rigid, easy-to-break dollhouse. However, if your child is asking for this item, nothing else will do. It's easy to put together. It requires 3 AAA batteries to play a Barbie song that will soon be wearing on your nerves. If your child is not asking for this item, don't bother.
This was a huge WOW factor X-mas morning and 5-yr-old has played with it almost every day for 2 months so far. Construction was easy and I was suprised and impressed at how many pieces of accessories it came with. It's not as flimsy as others have written (unless your child is really rough on toys). Compared to prices of other Barbie dollhouses, this is a best buy... especially if you were lucky enough to get the $50 off rebate! Note that the castle comes with 1 Liana (blonde) doll in regular dress and her dog. I couldn't find an Alexa doll in regular garb (or another dog). To get both girls, you have to buy separately in their special dresses and singing voices (expensive). My daughter questioned where Alexa was, but was ok using another Barbie as a replacement.
Growing up, I was really into Barbie's. My 4 year old has just started to enjoy them and this castle was first on her Christmas list this year. Since Mattel had a special to get a $50 gift card with a $100 purchase, I decided that this castle would be her big gift. It was a HUGE hit! She loves it. My husband put it together easily and quickly. It definitely isn't the quality that I was used to growing up and I don't feel that quality makes it worth the $90+ price we paid. The plastic is much thinner and not as durable as the things I had 30 years ago. However, I expected that so it wasn't a huge surprise to me. The light show with music is very neat and my daughter loves to turn off the lights and press the button. The accessories that went with this are pretty cute. Since we bought the playset, it came with one of the Muse's from the movie, the dog, furniture and some other small pieces. I loved the little picture of the dog. As I sit here typing this, I remember that the dog itself looks a bit cheesy but again, I am not the one playing with it and my daughter loves it. The castle itself is very big. She fit about 6 Barbie's in it with room to spare. Overall, this product was what I expected. I don't think it was worth the price based on the product itself. However, after watching my daughter play with it the last few weeks and seeing her satisfaction, I would probably buy it again. It certainly helps that I am going to get $50 back. : )
I purchased this as a present for my 4 1/2 yr. old granddaughter. Her 12 yr. old sister helped her put it together. They both played with it the rest of the afternoon. My only certain would be if too much weight was put on the upper floor, it would probably break.
I purchased Barbie and The Diamond Castle for my 5 year old granddaughter. It was the only thing that she asked Santa for when I took her to the mall to see Santa. I think that the product is cheaply made. It is made of thin plastic that doesn't seem too durable.I was disappointed for the price that I paid. I paid $94.97 for Barbie and The Diamond Castle. I think $50 would have been plenty. I would recommend waiting to see if the price goes down.
This was one of the only things my 4 year old daughter wanted for her birthday and I was extremely disappointed in the quality. For spending nearly $100.00 on something I would expect the materials used to be a bit more sturdy. Now don't get me wrong, it's an absolutely adorable diamond castle and looks almost like an exact replica but it's VERY flimsy and for the short time I've had it I can tell that it will not last very long. The walls are made of extremely THIN plastic and it's so light my daughter can barely play with it without knocking it over just from having a barbie "walk"up the stairs. I would recommend waiting until the price drops big time before wasting this kind of money.
