Have been a diabetic for more than 40 years and I measure the blood glucose every day, my previous meter was Precision Extra warked well for many years, but the strips prices ware very high. I bought the Contour Next EZ about 3 year ago thinking that I could have some savings on the new strips and because it could be connected to the computer. No luck with the price of the strips.
I received a sample from my PCP's office when I was diagnosed with diabetes. I was overwhelmed and new to all of this. They helped me set up my meter, really easy and practical to use. I also appreciate all the booklets that this company provides along with the online resources.
Easy to use and reliable results. My meter is an important part of my diabetes management.
So much better to have meter at home than have a blood draw as often as I do. I am a hard draw because I have small veins, the 'blow' and roll. I have had to have in some instants 3 times and still have to have a 'special' person come to draw. The meter is so much easier on me and it's at home. My only problem is the operator (me) forgets the steps sometimes and uses too much supplies and fear that I won't get the order in time for the next test.
I got this meter about 2 months ago to have a second meter. One for home and one for car. It works so much better that my old one. I thought all meters had faults in some on the strips. My freestyle always did. Every 4th 0r 5th strip would give me a error. But not the Contour Next EZ. I have tested 3 times a day for about 2 months and not a error yet. It is just marvelous.
It works fine. I needed it.
needed a second one for travel. best meter money can buy.
I'm glad to have started with this meter, it is very easy to use, and very reliable readings. My insurance company has decided that they will no longer pay for these strips however. The only thing that is a drawback is not being able to connect to phone. I prefer meters that upload and let you type messages daily.
I have difficulty with setting date, time, etc. but do like how quickly it registers the blood glucose! I do not like that you have to turn the meter around to read the results, though, as my fingers don't work well and I'm always afraid I'll drop the meter.
