So after having this a couple of years, I have to say I'm very disappointed. Like sewing, there are a million mistakes you can make and there is a steep learning curve. As a beginner to machine embroidery I've probably made most. That being said, the machine causes lots of problems that have nothing to do with me. Unlike sewing, most mistakes cannot be easily fixed. You can't always rip out mistakes bc you will ruin the item you are embroidering. Many, many issues with the bobbin thread not working properly after checking it and removing and starting over multiple times. It's just awful. I've have a Bernina sewing machine for 30 years! It's just so reliable and dependable I don't ever what to get rid of it. This Bernette machine is anything but reliable, or I should say that it's reliable as far as causing problems. It will cause plenty.
I've been doing embroidery for 10years and have to say this definitely was not the route to go. I have a small space so I wanted something small. It limits the size you can work with and unfortunately you can only use the hoops provided. I had so many tension problems and unfortunately that's something that can be done on this machine. It seems like it only works well with the designs provided. I tried other designs and it had so much trouble stitching the file. There's not much reviews or videos on YouTube or yet alone a manual to go off of if you're having problems. The manual provided is not detailed and doesn't say much unfortunately. Yes it was returned due to poor quality.
I downloaded and read the manual and watched many video tutorials before I tried my first design on the Bernette b70 Deco. I left all the default setting on and still found the machine difficult to learn and my results were dismal. The machine skipped stitches, jumped all over and repeatedly shut down. It wouldn't even complete the basting stitch. I came from using a Brother embroidery machine and purchased the Bernette because of the great price and larger hoop sizes available. I'm disappointed and sent it back the next day after receiving.
