I have made these and given them for baby showers. Everyone loved it and couldn't believe I decorated it. They thought I bought it.
I love this advent calendar and am so glad I found it and was able to create something that will allow for lasting memories with my family! I used scrapbook paper and paint to decorate the boxes. The sanding of the tabs is a little labor intensive, but my husband took care of that.
It can be really traditional or seasonal depending what papers you choose.
The DIY Advent Calendar was exactly what I was looking for! I wanted to create a countdown to Halloween, since that is my very favorite holiday! This works perfectly. I was not expecting it to come UN-assembled. However, that made the decorating process easier. I was able to paint all side of each piece before gluing it together to ensure perfect lines. It was very simple to put together and I love it! I bought a second one for my mom!
Looked online thru various sites and of course Walmart had the best price and wth site-to-store, no shipping fees.
Easy to assemble and decorate
This was exactly what I wanted... an advent calendar that I could custom make for my children to use for the next 14 years. It was relatively inexpensive and a waste of $23 and the amount of time I have put in to shop for decorations, decorate it, and put it together. It is impossible to put together after I painted each piece...not sure it would go together even if I hadn't painted it. (I never found in the description that the thing had to be put together in the first place, but maybe I missed it.) I don't usually give reviews but the quality was so poor that I didn't want anyone else to waste their money.
