Overall this is a great swing set that my children just love. The product is of high quality for the price and it's aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
We absolutely love this swing set and we researched lots of makes and models before selecting the Parkside. I bought it for my 3 boys aged 2,3 6 and they love it. I built this set myself in 6 hours, directions were good and overall easy to follow. My husband couldnt believe that I constructed this swingset. My tip is to be sure to take inventory of parts and organize everything before you start. The wood was nice, no checks or splinters and most was pre stained. I recommend this swing set, for the price you cannot do better.
My wife and I read and re-read every comment here before ordering this playset. We have 2 little girls, ages 1 and 3. We plan to buy a bigger set in 3 years or so, but at their ages now, we didn't want to get too big of a set, and didn't want to spend so much that we'll feel badly about replacing it in a few years with something bigger. Now that the set is assembled in our yard, and our 3 year old has spent a couple of days playing on it, we couldn't be happier. It's very sturdy, and with the stakes driven deeply into the ground, doesn't even move when she's swinging. I weigh 175 and I tested it by swinging on it, and it didn't sway or anything. It took me close to 6 hours to assemble, but it was pretty easy. I thought the instructions were good, and I read them a couple of times before I started so that I'd know what to expect. Again, we were really nervous about the purchase, as this set is so cheap relative to other wooden sets. And it certainly is pretty small (my wife's only disappointment is that the little covered area is quite small and the roof is low). But for our girls, it'll give them a few years of good play. And as far as the product, it's solid and well-designed.
I purchased this set for our small yard for my grandkids. Assembly was easy but took about 5 hours. Had a few questions and the support lady was very helpful and knowledgeable. The grandkids love it and we love watching them play on it.
It is great, but don't think it will be able to grow forever with your child. It will only last until your child is 8yrs old. However, we have two small children and a small yard and it is perfect for now. Building time was accurate. It fit in the area it needed to. My couch and chair have never had it easier. HEE HEE
This went together in about 4 hours using two adults and all children out of the way. One adult was experienced in using power and hand tools. Requires some drilling as all holes are not pre-drilled. Familiarity with types of hardware definitely helps. Working on a flat LEVEL surface, such as a driveway or patio is a big help. Instructions are pretty good, but be aware that everything you need to know is not written in the instructions. You have to pay attention to the diagrams also. We ended up redoing a section because of this. Our son is nearly three and it seems to be just the right system for him to be able to happy with for a couple of years. All of the wood was sanded well and stained on both sides, so it looks good. If I could do it over, I think I would double over the plastic fort-roof edges when putting on the screws. Even though they have washers, doubling the fabric would help with the tearing that I know will happen. It would have been a good idea for them to put rivets on the tarp. The A-frame wooden parts are not as sturdy as I had hoped. Older children will not be allowed on.
It took about five hours for my husband to put this together for our almost-three-year-old daughter. So far, so good, after almost two months. It has not yet rained here since we set it up; we hope to weatherproof the wood. Overall, we think it is a good buy for the money, considering it was only about $250 + $100 shipping (was not available in store to purchase or pick up, unfortunately). We didn't want to pay upwards of $500 for other wooden ones we had seen. If one has gift cards towards this, it would be an even better deal.
My step-dad and his friend built this for me. They are civil engineers and have 30 years of construction experience. They were frustrated by the number of parts, but got it built with little trouble in an afternoon. It is shorter than I had imagined, but it fits really well in my small yard. My daughter (almost 3) loves it, and it is small enough that my twins (almost 1) will be able to use it soon. All in all, I think it is a step up from the metal swing sets of the same style, and not so expensive that I will be upset when my kids outgrow it in 3 or 4 years. I will add that the ground in my yard is very soft, and the set is so light that it pulled out of the ground easily with just my 30-pound child swinging on it, so we're going to cement the posts down.
We were disappointed in the swing set but kept it anyway. Since we're the grandparents and the kids won't be using it every single day we hope it'll hold up for a few years. We opted to leave the roof off the little fort above the slide because there wasn't enough room under the roof for them to even crawl to the slide. My grandchildren are 2 & 4 years old. We took that part off ~ leaving it completely open and installed a small flag to the side to dress it up a bit. Now they can stand upright and sit down properly before sliding. The slide is very nice, the swings are very nice but the overall quality is lacking. We will preserve the wood before winter (wood is very porous) and hopefully that will extend the life of this swing set a bit longer as well. The cost to have it shipped wasn't worth losing if we returned it to the store. For Grandma and Grandpa's house it's fine and we'll try to keep it up as well as we can. I would recommend this product for a situation like ours .. not for daily use or hard play.
We purchased this swing set for our children 2 years ago. We thought that it was a great deal for the price...when regular wooden swings cost a small fortune. It was a total disappointment from day one....the set up was difficult...nothing was cut to the right length. Even after set up it was not sturdy. After two years several of the posts have cracked and broken in half when they were suppose to be plastic coated and weather resistant....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT!!
