I was having an issue with a pair of wild ducks taking over my swimming pool and making a big mess (feathers, droppings, random dead ducklings and rejected eggs, etc.). I Initially tried to shoo them away. When they would see me, they would fly off and circle my property or perch on top of my roof until I went back into the house. I was also unsuccessful using the rubber snakes, a fake owl, and a blow up alligator. Each prop would work for a day and by the next morning they would be sitting or swimming right next to the fake predators. I even placed the cover back on the pool. That stopped them from swimming in the pool but it didn't stop them from sitting on top of the cover and leaving their droppings all over it. I then decided to give the Bird-X Scare Eye Balls a try. I ordered 2 packs (6 balls). Basically, the balls are 24" beach balls with 6 imprinted eye balls. So whatever the position of the ball, there is always a spooky eye glaring back at you. As an extra bonus, string, shiny tie-on metallic tails and stick-on shiny pupil reflectors were included for you to optionally embellish the balls to really capture the duck's attention. I hung 2 of the eye balls in near-by trees and placed 4 eye balls in the pool. The first day the ducks stayed out of the pool until I turned off the pool pump. Once they could not see the eye balls in the dark and they were no longer moving about the pool, they jumped right in. They stayed out of the pool the next day once the pump was turned back on and the eye balls began to float around the pool. That evening I did not shut off the pool pump and decided to turn the pool lights on. This allowed the eye balls to visibly move around the pool in the dark. (I only ran the pump during the night 1 time.) Well, to date, I'm happy to report that the "'eyes" have it! To my surprise, it has been a week now with positively no signs of the ducks or their droppings. I believe the success to warding the ducks away was due to constantly keeping the eye balls roaming throughout my swimming pool.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone. It amazed me after 3 days we no longer had birds and their droppings in our pool. I will be purchasing these every year.
have scary birds hanging in our back yard, so far they are doing their job - scaring away ALL the birds. delivery time was a little slow but overall we are pleased with our purchase.
In 2016, after replanting twice, we hung a single "ball" in our vegetable garden to stop crows from pulling out our corn seedlings. We then moved it near our blueberry & raspberry bushes to keep birds away. We recently ordered the 3 pack and are using several "balls" to keep deer out of our bean patch. As instructed, we relocate the balls every few days and they seem to be protecting both our fruit and vegetable gardens. We also plant marigolds amongst our nursery plants to discourage bunnies and we play a radio in our corn patch at night, once ears begin forming, to keep deer and racoons away.
Professional tree hugger she charge a fortune for these things.
A pair of pigeons decided to make a nest under my awnings and also to land and poop all over my new Mustang convertible. These inflateables did the trick of keeping them off of my car and getting rid of their nest choice. Good riddance!
We installed these balloons two weeks ago and they seem to be doing a good job, they have withstood some windy weather and have kept the woodpeckers away ( so far). Time will tell!
The balls are designed to be very light reflective and move a lot via wind and their light weight. They are the best thing I have used to keep ducks out of my pool. That said they are also quite pricey for painted inflatable beach balls.
I have tried owl statues, and other predator bird statues and nothing works to keep those birds from pooping on my patio. I was certain that these balloons would work but not so much...... Initially the birds stayed away but that only lasted a few days. The birds came back and now I hosing off my patio once again. It's still not as bad as it once was but I was hoping that the birds would stay away permanently.
works for about 3 days, loses air, Don't Think Nothing Works For Birds
