I just bought this blender and it is very powerful!! Its exactly what I was looking for in price and performance. It made a great banana smoothie in less than 30 seconds!!! A few things I would recommend based on the user reviews .... When making a smoothie, veggie drink, baby food as with all blenders pi 1/4 cup of liquid in the blender first, then add your stuff and pulse it a few times to break things up alittle before you blend it. As for Salsa, just pulse the ingredients 4 or 5 times at 3 second intervals, to keep it chunky. I honestly think this is a good blender but you have to know how to use a blender, if you dont then be sure to READ THE MANUAL or you can easily break any blender by not using it correctly. Food processors can puree foods with out liquids, I have never had a blender that could do that and with the power of this blender after pulsing a few times, it only takes about 20 or 30 seconds of actual blending to make a smoothie, Why blend longer than that?
This blender is really good and the price is great. I have it now for about a year and it never let me down. Once my husband unplugged it and when I plugged it back it didn't work right away. I thought it was broken or something, but he read the manual and it said that sometimes it may need to be reset. All we had to do was leave it unplugged for about a minute, then plug it back. Really that simple and really good blender. I use it everyday and I am very satisfied.
We used this blender for over a year. It mixes ingredients just okay... Have to help it along if making a full batch. Durability...If you dont plan on using it alot, it will hold up just fine. My husband and I are always making smoothies and slushies.... so it was used several times a week (sometimes several times a day) The gears wore out because they are plastic. We had 2 smoothie makers from when we got married (very cheap ones) and the gears wore out on those also. I just didnt want to have to replace this one so soon after buying it. I will look for a mixer with metal gears instead.
The product is easy to use and has been working good so far. I have used it for one month and haven't found any problems. I have tried crushing ice, making smoothies, juices and grating carrots. It does well for juices and smoothies. But the speed settings do not matter much. Carrot is grated with the same thickness no matter what settings are selected. Overall, it has a very good performance considering the price of $25. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an economical blender that has a good performance.
I had this for a few months, and I use it maybe a couple times a week. Last night it broke on me. I expect that when I pay for something that its gonna last me longer than a couple months. Now the blender resides in the trash bin.
I originally purchased this blender for many reasons which included the price, the features, the motor amps rating and the new sleek new look of the control buttons. First you would think that Black & Decker would have a good product in this blender but they missed the mark. I purchased this blender so that I could make blizzards. After using the first blender twice, the motor burned out on it (and I was only blending ice cream and small candy bars). I returned it to Wal-Mart and received a refund. After looking at my options again, I again chose to repurchase the same blender (thinking that it may have only been a fluke). NO!!! The second blender almost did not finish the first mix of blizzards before the motor quite. And with the second blender, I just "pulsed" it throughout without leaving the unit in the "ON" mode to blend. I can not imagine what the blender would do if you tried to blend ice (as the box states it will chop ice and even shows a picture of ice in the blender). PURE JUNK! Do not even attempt to buy. If I would have taken the time to first read these ratings, I would of NEVER even purchased to begin with. I only gave a high rating for "appearance" as Black & Decker only has that going for them on this particular unit.
I hoped to have read reviews on this product before purchasing, but did not and paid the price. After five months, the glass jar cracked from bottom to top and was garbage. I now have to find the same jar if available somewhere or have to purchase a new blender.
I bought one of these, used it twice and it didn't work the 3rd time I went to use it--less than 12 hours after I bought it. I returned it to Walmart and exchanged it for the same model hoping it was a random lemon. Brought it home and it broke on my first use. How bad can a product be????
I bought this thinking it would be great, especially with all of the different settings: salsa, chop, etc. No matter which setting I put it on, everything was pureed >:O I am returning this today...
I bought this because I had some friends coming and we wanted to make margaritas. It worked good the first time it was used...chopped the ice up good and blended well. Went to make a drink about a month later and hit the pulse button about three times and that was it! I couldn't get it to run again. I unplugged it and took it all apart and tried it again. I got it going again...ONCE...and when I pushed the off button it colapsed in and that was that. I took it back and exchanged it for the same kind because I didn't have the box any longer, and Walmart did let me exchange it. I will have to let you know how the new one works once I use it.
