I've been researching electric mowers for some time now. I wanted a mower that I could use when my daughter is outside with me - she's afraid of my loud gas mower and it sometimes smokes. I couldn't be happier with my decision to purchase this electric mower. It feels as if I'm vacuuming my living room instead of mowing the yard. I'm not NEARLY as tired from using this mower as I was when I'd use my gas mower. It's lighter and easier to push. I can even listen to my mp3 player while I'm mowing - my gas mower was so loud, I couldn't hear ANYTHING! I'm looking forward to mowing my yard this evening (I NEVER thought I'd say a thing like that!).
I purchased this mower in May '09 but wasn't able to use it until July '09 because I was waiting to close on my house. Anyway, I absolutely love this mower. I live on a 14,000 sq ft lot and I use a 100 ft cord. It's been said that it's best to use this mower if you have a small yard, well I don't have any problems at all. It takes me a while but I like the exercise. This mower is very easy to start. I love the fact that I don't have to pull my arm out of the socket in order to start it. It's not as quite as I had hoped but it bets the extra loud gas mower. Not having to go to the gas station is a bonus as well.
I have never been mechanically inclined, and mixing gasoline w/ oil...No Way! Therefore, I have to say that this electric mower was an excellent choice indeed! Granted the cord can be cumbersome until you get the hang of it. My son received a call to mow a man's yard for him the same day that this mower arrived--his grass stood about 18" tall! This product performed in an outstanding fashion! I was worried that it wouldn't have the cutting power of a gas mower, but it proved me wrong!!! Additionally, being a female and not overly strong, I was able to lift the mower into and out of my Suzuki to transport it where we needed to go. On top of all of this, my son and I simply love the bagging feature, as we do not have to rake anymore!!!
As long as you don't mind a power cord, the mower is very easy to use, very lightweight but mulches and cuts grass nicely. Should have got one these long time ago.
I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have a mower that starts so easily. After many years of fighting with gas mowers to get them started this one starts with just a flip of a lever. Everyone in my house hated the job of mowing the lawn but now we fight over who will get to mow the lawn. Being careful with the electrical cord is nothing compared to the frustration of the gas mowers I have owned in the past years.
This mower was selected for ease of use and lives up to its expectations. Highly recommended for all those fed up with the difficulty of starting oil/gas mowers, esp seniors. This mower will stop and start on demand as long as the user does not run over the power cord. At 120 V and 12 amps, remember to get the correct cord for that amount of power.
I bought this because it was highest rated by consumer reports. I wanted to switch from gas to electric & wanted the best electric mower I could get. This mower work kinda ok. The suction is weak when baggin the grass and the power is lacking if the grass is even a little tall. The cord will get in the wat IF you have lots of landscaping and stuff. This mower would be good if you just have a small patch of perfect lawn to mow like most new houses do, but I have a pretty big yard with lots of grass, so I returned this & am going back to gas.
The good: quick start every time, no excessive attempts at all. the bad: cumbersome to handle with the power cord, but i am used to using a gas mower.
The Lawn hog electric mower seems to mow quite well. Being 6' the push bar is NOT ajustable which puts it in an uncomfortable position. Where the wire connects could be more effective with some type of engineered tether to keep wire in place. It seems as though once it was out on the market they stopped thinking how to make better. Wishful thinking?
I had a Black & Decker 6 AMP electric lawn mower for years and upgraded to this 12 AMP. The first time I used it it bogged down and started smoking. The grass catcher was cheaply made plastic and netting. My old 6 AMP was a much better lawn mower. I thought a 12 AMP would be better. Back it goes. This is the last time I purchase anything online. Better to see it in person and know what you are getting.
