This mower is perfect for a small front yard. I love using it! It's light-weight and quiet. It's so easy to lift it and put it into our shed. I bought a standard 100 foot extension cord to use with this mower. At times I add a 25 foot one as well. It's more than enough to reach all areas of my lawn. The best feature of this mower is how easily it starts. With the light (one finger) pull of a lever you are off and running. Now and then I need to stop the mower to readjust around my extension cord. Often I forget how easy it is to start and re-start. This makes adjusting the position of the cord and mower so simple! Black and Decker has put together a quality product that is a snap to use!
This is the second mower I have purchased of this style. The first one lasted me 3 years. While not designed to be a super-tough mower, I used it over many types of rough terrain. Easy to adjust the height settings, easy maintenance, easy start. No messy oil & gas to fool with. Does take a little longer to mow with since it is only 18 inch cut and one has to be careful with the cord (I use a 100 foot cord). Cost to me averaged less than $50 a season and I live in Texas, so when it quit, to me it was a "no brainer" to order the same kind of mower!
PROS: Easy to start, light-weight, no gas, oil, or tune ups, CONS: Using the power cord This one of the best things that I have purchased recently, I have no idea why I always used gas in the past, since I have used the electric I will never go back to a gas powered mower. Once you get used to the power cord than the rest is easy. Just like gas but no smell, or all of the other work involved with up keep. I think my biggest problem was finding a place to plug it in, other than that this is one great product.
This is the best and easiest lawn mower I have ever owned. I was able to push it with one hand while holding the electrical cord in my other hand. The directions for attaching the handle were a little confusing but after a few tries, I did get the hang of it. I would recommend this mower!
I like it, we used it once so far and it is easy to push, it cut the grass easily, and it is simple to use for both myself and my wife who is a very small woman and not very strong. The hardest thing will be figuring out a way to cut with the least amount of flipping the cord back and forth. But just like using a vaccum cleaner in the home you learn to do that without a problem.
This is my first electric mower and I'm very pleased with it. The 'cord dance' takes a little getting used to, but since I have a small yard, it's not too much of a bother. Love the super quick cutting depth toggle. On my last mower all 4 wheels had to come off to set cutting depth. I have only used this mower a few times so I can't vouch for durability, but so far so good!
This is my second electric mower. I bought the same model previously. But my lot was full of rocks and steep slopes, which ruined the blade badly. But I still used it for several years. This time I am buying exactly the same model.
So far I have used it once. After my other electric lawn mower died after 24 years I had to find another. It is nice, light weight and did a nice cut to the lawn after not being mowed for 3 weeks. The only disappointment was that it did not come with a catch bag and had to order it separately.
As you will soon see upon opening the box it is a box of plastic parts w/cheap wheels and starter handle. I live on a small residential lot with St.Augustine grass. It is July 2013 in Texas and Im looking forward to trying my 1st electric mower. I chose this after seeing so many (500+) positive reviews between Walmart&Amazon. My 1st day out to mow and the grass guard on the side snaps off. I check it out thinking it just popped off but alas no the thin plastic holder broke while I was pushing the mower thru grass about 3-4" higher than the cut height. I put it aside and continue. As I am nearing completion of just my small backyard the mower engine occasionally seems to be dying. I stop not quite completing the backyard thinking the motor could be over heating. The next day I finish the backyard and start on the front once again about 2-3 times the motor gets to the point of stopping. I have to decide whether the motor will burn up or it just needs to cool down again so I am walking slow. This yard is probably one of the most mower friendly yards I have ever lived in. I plan to return the mower today or tomorrow and go back to a gas power mower. While it is nice not having to worry every year if the gas/oil mixture has clogged up the carb it is better than having a motor burn up. Also I would not recommend using this mower with thick grass, probably works better w/bermuda grass and due to its flimsy construction you need to use it on well manicured lawns.
I just purchased this Black & Decker 6.5-amp 18" electric mower model LM 175. I ordered it through Walmart with in store pick up ( that was the easy part) when I unpacked and put handle on tried it out, it ran great, Then I discovered, when it had been assembled at the factory, that one side of the bagging shoot had not been attached by the manufacture. I did not want to send it back, did not know where to take it for a repair. It has a warranty,I think returning it is my only option. Sam
