Exceptional Deal and the carrying case is a real bonus I didn't know was part of the package. The set also has the versatile and hard to find reciprocating saw. I've been using B&D 18V products for years with excellent results.
I got this product for my husband for Christmas. He loves it!! My only gripe is, he already knows what he is getting for Christmas. When the UPS man brought it, it was in the original package for him to see what it was. I was expecting it to be in a brown box or something, which it normally is. I suggest something like this, especially this time of year, put it in a box so your other half and neighbors don't see what is sitting on your steps. Other than that, he was like a kid in a candy store. LOL
The main reason why I purchased this set was because I have 18v cordless black and decker yard tools. I figured it would be a neat idea to have all the same batteries. It is very convenient. Besides that, the tools work great. I just purchased my first home and need some tools to door home improvements. Granted this isnt heavy duty, but I will tell you everything works as expected. I have trimmed 6 panel doors with the saw with no problem, installed a patio door w/ the saw zaw and the cordless drill - it didnt even stutter. I would not recommend using this for everyday heavy duty use but once in a while it is fine. I can tell that the batteries would not hold up to everyday use - I had to change it once in the 30 minutes I used it. But I cut through a house frame. Batteries are fine - no problem other than when I was doing my big project. Black and Decker recommends leaving the batteries on charge all the time for peek performance - the good thing about these batteries there is no memory - so you can just about charge them after every use. I did notice however the plastic casing is a little cheap. When I am drilling I feel the casing move - no big deal, but I can see it cracking easily. By the way - if this helps convince you - Black and Decker makes Dewalt.
The Black & Decker (B&D) 18v Cordless Combo kit has the right tools for a large majority of Home Repair/Remodeling tasks. The tools are excellent for medium duty home use, but are not heavy-duty construction grade. The circular saw can be used with both 7 1/4" and 6 1/2" blades. A 140 tooth blade is definitely needed for sawing plywood, paneling or OSB. The screw/drill symbols on the Torque Adjustment Collar of the Drill are a nice helpful touch. Both the Circular and Reciprocating saws use standard blades of various types which are widely available. B&D uses the same 18v NiCad batteries in their Cordless Garden tools so the batteries and chargers are inter-changable.
I work in the trades and have used, and or owned, about every type of cordless tool out there. These are my favorite tools. I use the Fire Storm set 6 days a week I have built, decks, walls, sheds, etc and they are my favorite tools. They have outlasted ryobi, skill, craftsman, coleman, milwaukee, and, dewalt. I also love the ease of use. The drill is hands down my favorite cordless drill I have ever used. The drawbacks are the circular saw could have a bigger blade so it could cut bigger lumber. I have a separate skill saw I use for cutting posts and that works out well enough so. Overall I have and do, recommended these tools and always had people tell me they are pleased with them.
Excellent set of tools they work really well and handle under stress. I have 1 gripe though the battery life is real low. I have to constantly charge them and it takes a while for full charge so i have to stop a lot. Good product for the price but wish the battery would last longer.....
I got this as a Christmas gift from my wife. I thought that it would not be up to my standards when I saw that it was cordless. I was WRONG! The battery holds up great, the power of each item is as good as any corded I have used. I would have gone 5 star on this BUT, I was not thrilled that the battery charger was not interchangeable with my other Black and Decker batteries. Outside of that, this is an excellent buy. I was floored when my wife finally broke down and told me the cost! Great value, great deal, Black and Decker surprised me again!
the drill saw and light work well but the baters are no good you can make 5 or 6 cut with the saw and the bartey is dead
I can not recommend this combo the drill works fine but is underpowered,the light I have no use for, the rotary saw is okay if 1/4 in. is all you want to cut, the reciprocating saw kills the battery in 10 seconds or less. I have had this set for over a year and haven't gotten much use out of it.
Bought this new I read the instructions it says the battery will charge complete in four hours. Wrong it won't charge at all. And forget calling black and decker they transfer you to so many people then you get disconnected. When I finnaly got to talk to some one they said it has to be your plug in not working. The plug in works fine. Save yourself a headache don't buy this product.
