it's not even I year old and it started to smell like fire when I was using it. only use it twice a month for light ironing (work clothes) no it will not get hot at all. not sure if black and decker will make good on it eiiher. love the iron light weight lots of steam smooth ironing but would have preferred it to work a little bit longer
I've had this iron for less than a year. I had no complaints, but now it no longer works. I expected more from a Black & Decker product.
The Smart Steam doesn't work. And because of the auto cord retraction, the iron is very long and not stable when stood on end. Worst iron I've had. I'm looking for a new one and will toss this one that doesn't steam correctly. This is the only review I've ever written!
Had this iron less than 3 months and it won't turn on now. Poor product!
I had this iron for about three months to replace a cheap one i had for years that was just worn out. The iron worked great at first but just last night when i turned it on it would not get hot no matter what way i held it so we will get another one just not a black&decker but a brand i can trust.
My boyfriend and I needed a new iron. The one we had suddenly broke but lasted for years. It was a sunbeam with the cordreel. Well we figured,black & decker was a good brand so we bought this one. After about a week it stopped working. It didnt get as hot or steam as well. Maybe we could have gotten a defective one but I'm still upset we wasted money on this one. I threw the receipt away & couldnt return it,so I just took it as a loss.
I had never paid more than $20 for an iron in my life, so the higher price tag on this one made me think it would be better. It had all the features I was looking for. I ended up being very disappointed! The cord never reeled properly, and the "no-drip" feature was a joke. Now, after using the iron for just a few months, it is no longer working. The light comes on, but it does not heat up.
I iron almost all my clothes. I purchased this iron without reading any reviews because my current iron had just died and I needed to iron clothes for work the next day. It began leaking around the sole plate the first night I used it. Intended to return it but the reciept got thrown away by mistake. Decided to try to deal with it. By the end of the first week, the iron was shutting off for no reason and would not come back on unless I unplugged it and let it sit for an hour or so. By the end of the second week the Steam Surge button began sticking. I will be purchasing another iron today and will throw this one in the trash.
The retractable cord jammed for now obvious reason other than poor design. Can not be repaired by an ordinary person and too costly to have it serviced. Recommend avoiding this product.
This iron has all the bells and whistles that I was looking for, but was a total disappointment. It just stopped heating after a few month, but by then the store return time frame had expired. Now I am back in the market for a new iron.
