I have a black max generator 7500 watts since 2011 got it in Sams in Puerto Rico and know 2022 it still run good, but i have to put a new regulator and a new battery to start it up by starter, but por a 11 year old generator i love it, and just waiting to biy a new model 2022 just in case mine breaks some day.
Machine is HEAVY so plan on having help unloading it.. Out of the box and had it running in 45 minutes. Runs quiet compared to my previous Briggs & Stratton that I had for 11 years. A little hard to move with the handle in the rear like hand trucks because of the weight. Paid $999 two days ago, but would be worth the present price of $1199! Ready for the power to go off, so I can test it to see if it will do what I want it to. Push button start is great, but pull handle cranks easily also. AND, IT IS MADE IN AMERICA!
This unit kept me powered at my home after Hurricane for 2 weeks. Very dependable, and most affordable unit with honda engine.
Perfect right out of the box. Minor assembly is required, initial run, followed by oil change. The electric start is super nice. The generator is very easy to use. It is powerful. Note- like all large generators, it is loud. But, we do what do when the power is out.
The generator is not bad, it appears to be well-built for the most part. Out of the box we installed the wheels (not pneumatic), added oil and gas, connected the battery and it fired right up. My reason for the 3 stars are the following: 1. So the engine is built by Honda, but don't assume this is anywhere near as quiet as a Honda generator. It's actually REALLY LOUD! Louder than the Yamaha powered Rigid that it's replacing. No mention of the db level in the specs or on the box. 2. The handle quick lock pin is too small for the hole, so it falls out. This puts all the force on the spring loaded release pin. Over time and usage, I would expect this to fail. 3. The fuel filler is on the top of the tank in a recessed well, which is lower than the top of the tank with no channel for runoff. This means that if it is raining and you need to add fuel, you will have to tip the generator to clear the standing water and dry the area so the water does not run into the tank.
I bought 2 of these generators. The only reason I bought them was that it stated it came with a Honda engine. The first one I used for myself and got it up and running. I smelled a faint whiff of plastic of some sort. I just figured it was normal for a new engine. Within 40 minutes it let out a cloud of toxic smoke and caught on fire. Luckily I was right there or it would have burnt my house down with a 6 gallon gas tank directly above the fire. Solder melted from the engine and dripped on the concrete below. I later learned that the engine was made in Thailand. Not what I expected when I laid out over a thousand dollars for a generator. I used the second generator for about a day and a half and didn't have any problems as of yet. However I am quite concerned that in my next moment of need that I will have another fire and be without power. It leaves me with much mental anguish!!!
I bought the BlackMax Generator from Sam's Club, brought it home put gas and oil in unit. The electric start did not work but engine will start and run manually. I had to take it to lawn mower dealer to work on it. Currently waiting on call from dealer to see what was wrong with starter. I paid extra for a electric starter that does not work on a brand new BlackMax 7500 Watt Bluetooth Generator w/MaxSense CO. Not at all happy about a new power generator that does not start. Would not recommend this generator based on my experience.
