I had fun putting this work bench together until I noticed that it was both metal brackets (at the top of the legs) seemed "flared" or "warped", not parallel, as shown in the picture on the box. I stopped right there, and a few days later, some friends came over and immediately found the problem. I hadn't properly inserted one of the "scissored legs" in place. It was a humbling experience, because I thought I could do it solo, but friends come through every time! Now, I have had fun every weekend, dealing with wood of all sizes, and testing my limits! I wish everyone had one! Makes life easy!
This has been a excellent work bench for me. I haven't done any large projects on it yet but so far it seems very sturdy and has worked well for me. The instructions that come with it for putting it together are as clear as mud. Even with the terrible instructions, I had it mostly put together before I really ran into a problem. I found an excellent video on YouTube and was able to finish putting it together.
For the price, it's easy to assemble and very usefull, as I expected, for my home projects. I'm satisfied with this purchased.
It is fine for most everyday use. I have had the bigger version for years and it is better for anything... I moved and had to get rid of the bigger one so I got this one, I'm not building furniture anymore!!
This turned out to be the perfect first tool to purchase as a homeowner just starting to build up a small workshop in my garage. Very sturdy and versatile. Much better that the cheap plastic saw horses I was originally going to buy. Already used it to build my first project, a full size heavy duty workbench.
The instructions are difficult to understand, in fact they left out a diagram that they actually referred to! They completely missed a very important step. This took me 80 minutes to put together which is long for something that is about 8 pieces. Then upon finishing the holes for the top wooden slats do not line up correctly with the 2 (blocks) that go under the top wood platforms.
Very poor assembly instructions. Even the blown up portion of the diagram isn't much bigger than a stamp.
This workbench is pretty good for casual use. If you plan to use this often for heavier items or need something rock solid then look at the other models. It's not built as heavy as the workmates were 10-20 years ago but it's not junk either. Just depends on what you want it for.
A great value for the price. It does more than you can expect for the price. Nowhere near the quality of the good ones, great for small projects
the items whole were improperly placed so that we coukdnt screw it together. called black and decker who said they wouldn't replace it and told me to take it back where i purchased it. took it to where i purchased it and they told me to contact black and deker. I'm without a work bench and the money.
