Gramps use to buy a peppermint candy that was chewy almost like a taffy wrapped in plastic. Gramps loved Christmas and since my Grandmother loved shopping and wrapping, gramps became the caterer.decorater, bartender, punch maker ect, He loved it! He always had Christmas ribbon candy and soft peppermint chews. He had various candy jars depending on who could actually chew and who couldn't eat nuts and so forth.Chocolates were reserved for Christmas Eve, the box looked like an old fashioned steamer trunk! I wanted to find these candies for my grandson (chocolate is always around) and put them in festive crockery like gramps.First grandson my friends!! I've been missing some spirit. The kids went off to school, graduated, moved out, moved back in,moved out,got married. This is the first year my grandson can really have fun with Christmas. I bought these mints and I thought they were terrific.I don't know if I'll ever find 'gramps mints'. These are everything the review said they are and could double as a breath mint without the mouthwash! So! How do I convince 'so and so' to eat some mints? I can't wait until 'so and so' yawns from turkey fatigue--too cruel.I don't think I'll have convince that person to pop some minty freshness!!! These are good and easy to overeat, like pecan pie,....oh wait. Thanks a lot. Merry Christmas!
These are my favorite restaurant mints and I'm so glad they sell them at Walmart!
Yes 5 Stars !!!!! Usually on see these around Christmas time...Christmas of 2015 we purchased 6 tubs of these Sweet Strips and kept one full all the time in our living room, for family and friends It's now the middle of March 2016 and we only have 1 tub left and I see none are in stock, so......we will just have to wait for the next Christmas Display of these great candies, and we will buy even more of them next time. I wish they would keep the tubs in stock year around... I highly recommend these BOB'S SWEET STRIPES for everyone, all ages !!! (from a 70 y.o couple in TN)...
Our whole office enjoys these mints.
Made a random purchase of these while Christmas shopping to give away to Walmart TLE customers. This holiday is about giving and spreading joy, after all, and I wanted to do my part. Now, I don't know who "Bob" is, but from the stylish cursive logo my instinct told me that these were going to be delicious. Plus, with it only being $5 for a huge plastic container of mint candy, I just couldn't pass the opportunity of giving. The next day when I returned to work, I filled up these babies in a bucket (along with a sign that read "Happy X-mas. Yes, it's free") and set it next to my register to commence my spread of joy. I took the honor of grabbing the first and popped it into my mouth. With my right cheek plumped up, I started to analyze the taste and texture of Bob's Soft Mint Candy. A few minutes later, the verdict was "yummy!!". Taste wise, it's not too minty and did not leave a lingering after taste. The texture is what probably convinced me the most -- with an ordinary solid texture you would expect from any hard candy at first. But as it started to dissolve with the help of saliva, that's when the magic began with it's creaminess. The milky fluid ran down smooth and was delicate on my tongue. Silky, delicate, not overpowering with sugar, not too wintery. Yes, I was in love. Two days later, and my first ration nearly gone, I'm looking to buy two more of these to continue my attempt at joy spreading until Christmas day. I've gotten comments such as "Wow, these are addicting" to "This is delicious!", to which I've replied "Right? I can't help keep reaching for more." I'm no mint candy expert but these are truly addicting! I say "no, thanks" to the traditional smaller mint candy that takes longer to dissolve, with a stronger mint taste. But Bob's Soft Mint Candy is totally a league of it's own, I can't help but saying "more please!". Happy X-mas everyone!
The whole family enjoys these soft mints. They melt in the mouth and are a wonderful peppermint flavor. This big tub is a fantastic buy!
I can't stop eating these. They are so soft, they melt in your mouth. Very good peppermint flavor. Not too strong.
Bob's sweet stripes are soft delightful candies with a light peppermint flavor that's not too overbearing and simply melts in your mouth. We got them for Halloween and all the kids who came trick-or-treating were so happy! Luckily, this is a big box so there were enough to go around for everybody.
Bob's mints are good and much better than the hard disks if you prefer the soft style; but they're still kind of hard right out of the bag. That depends on the person eating some... If you ever see the brand mint called Red Bird, those mints look pretty much like these, but are slightly smaller. Red Bird has proven, right out of the packaging, to be somewhat easier for smaller mouths and the elderly with dental problems. Red Bird are puff mints that melt away in the mouth pretty quickly, and oh, so delicious. Bobs mints are also good and slightly larger and rounder than the Red Bird. They last longer in the mouth than the puff mints do, but not as long as the hard, disk mints that restaurants and banks so typically hand out. Bob's mints are called soft; however, they still have a crunch when you bite into one. It's just a 'softer' crunch than a hard disk mint. The Red Bird brand I've mentioned melt in the mouth quickly and have a creamier, smoother feel. For smaller children, or elderly people with dental issues, we've found the melt-away's are a better choice, as opposed to Bob's, though not as readily available. But I see there is a way to make Bob's a softer mint. And Bob's are a good mint. Today I purchased a 14-ounce bag of Bob's Sweet Stripes Soft Peppermints, the same style as in this container, pictured above. This version mint that comes in the blue bag states that if you want your mints softer, leave them exposed to the air in a warm, moist place. Then store them in an airtight container. We'll certainly be trying their method soon! FYI: Bob's mints cost less than Red Bird, but Red Bird *might* be considered a higher quality mint. Bob's mints are produced by Farley and Sathers Candy Company. There is no mention of cross-contamination of being produced/manufactured with nuts of any kind. The ingredients are: Sugar, Peppermint Oil, Red 40 & Red 40 Lake.
