I purchased this in hopes that it would relieve the cramps in my hand when I crochet for hours on end. And it did exactly that! I love it! The handle is soft & easy to switch to different hooks depending on the project!! I have recommended this product to many crochet friends!
I looked at this crochet handle several times before deciding to buy it. The only reason I didn't buy it was because I thought it would be too big, but I decided to give it a try, knowing that I could return it if I didn't like it & I'm glad I did. It is the perfect size for anyone who's hands cramp or who just has a hard time holding the smaller hooks. I didn't have a hard time getting used to it & I would definitely recommend!
I have been crocheting for about a year, and love the Boye hooks. I opened this and had no clue what he had bought me. I just smiled and said thank you. I figured I would give it a shot so it didn't hurt his feelings. I was actually surprised. My hand didn't cramp at all while I was working. I made two hat over the weekend, and didn't feel a thing. I'm not sure where to store the extra little attachments so I don't lose them. Otherwise, it's a great little gizmo! :)
I love to crochet and a few years ago, I was crocheting edges on flannel blankets for grandchildren. Long before I was done, my hands were cramping and miserable and I had to limit myself to a few minutes a day. I tried a foam cover for the hook and while it helped a little, it was too small to make a huge difference. I wanted something that wouldn't make my fingers have to curl into little claws. Saw this little device in the store and immediately bought one. I came home and put it on my small hook. There are adapters for the various size hooks. I found I could hold the hook comfortably and work for hours again. It is wonderful. I loaned my hook to my daughter. I had to buy another handle. I gave my sister one for Christmas. My handles keep getting adopted by others so I bought a few extras to share and enjoy.
I can crochet for hours with no hand fatigue or cramping. It takes no time at all to get used to using, and is very comfortable. I can use tiny hooks for thread and lace weight crochet, something I was not able to do before. I don't wake up with stiff hands, it's wonderful. The description is wrong, it's plastic and silicone rubber, not aluminum. It says it is for size B-K hooks, but by wrapping the hook shank with a rubberband, you can use tiny steel hooks also. If you crochet, this is the best, most useful accessory you can buy.
I have started crocheting for real income, but find with regular hooks I Am limited on bow long I can work. I find I can crochet for up to twice as long before my hands have problems. One has to get used to the shape, and I hold my hook differently and have a different angle and action to each stitch, but I also have prettier stitches by far! *not constantly fighting pain really helps that!* My one complaint is Boye needs to have more differentiation in the colors of the stays that you slide onto the hook to keep it in place inside the handle. Most are shades of blue or green, and not everyone can see colors that well. Why not have white, red, orange, brown and other such colors to make it simpler to tell on the packaging which plug for each hook? In any case, I will be getting one of these for my daughter and sister as they both suffer with arthritis and fatigue in their hands with the hours of crochet each does!
For years I have not been able to crochet because my hand would cramp terribly within moments of beginning. Since I got this I can crochet again without any cramping at all. LOVE IT!
I will admit when I saw this odd looking thinking I was very skeptical... but I needed to try something because I ama king items to resale, and I could barely make it through one baby bootie before I had to take a break. This thing IS AMAZING!! It took a bit to get used to how I needed to hold it to work right, but once I figured that out there was no stopping me! I can make 3 pair of booties in one sitting no problem, could still keep going I'm sure if I had more time to spare. It not only helps with the cramps that you get in your hand, but I also found that after a while of working on a project my hands would get a little sweaty, making it impossible let to keep my metal hook at the right angle to crochet properly. This piece is a comfortable rubber, so that problem is solved as well. I plan on letting everyone about this accessory. Also, as a solution to another customer's comment, once I got home, I just went ahead and slipped the different fittings on the cooresponding hooks, so that I didn't have to worry about keeping up with them. So when I need to change hook sizes, all of the others are ready to go!
I love to crochet but I have arthritis and other issues with my hands. Holding on to a crochet hook made my hand hurt after just minutes. With this handle, I can easily hold onto it and crochet for an hour at a time. I honestly just can't crochet without it. I recently purchased a second one for a spare in case they are ever discontinued. I've had mine for a few years and use it almost daily.
I couldn't get it to working without feeling like the crochet hook was going to come out. It wasn't but the placement of the handle with a standard hook didn't work for me. I purchased a hook with the rubber grip that works awesome.
