The fact that this Brink's 50 mm Long Shackle Padlock is built strong is obvious at a glance. The body is built of solid brass and the shackle is substantial and made of a cut resistant hardened Boron steel alloy and is cut resistant up to 6,000 pounds. The shackle, when opened is 2 3/8 inches deep, slightly shorter when snapped shut, so there is plenty of room to snap it closed around the hasp. The lock is easy to use and the combination can be reset to make it easier for you to remember the combo. Resetting is easy using the supplied key inserted into the side of the lock and changing the combo to a more memorable set of numbers. With a thousand possible combinations to choose from you can always find the combo that is right for you and your family. The corrosion resistance of brass makes this lock perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. The lock is perfect to keep your valuables safe in sheds, on gates, garages, storage containers, toolboxes, or for securing chains around just about anything. The uses are endless and I can highly recommend this strong lock for all sorts of uses.
This is a fantastic lock, looks indestructible. Driving a truck over the road it's so much better than the ones I use. No key to carry around. I don't think anyone can break this lock. The lock itself is solid brass. The shaft is hardened stainless steel. The dial lock is very easy to set using the the key to set the lock. Just set your own number and put away the setting key until you want to change the number. The carton has the instructions on how to set the numbers. Weather resistant, and 6000 pounds cut resistant. WOW
This review is for the Brink's 50mm Long Shackle Bottom Resettable Dial Padlock. This padlock is very solid and heavy duty which is exactly what you should look for in a lock. I chose the combination lock because I already have too many keys on my keyring. If you're worried about forgetting the combination, just put a note in your phone. The combination can be changed as many times as you need. You can also store the changing key right on the lock, so it doesn't get lost (you have to have the combination to get it off so it's safe to leave it with the lock). I also chose the longer shaft on purpose because I find it easier to maneuver when locking my outdoor carport storage cabinet. I will say that I had some trouble changing the combination, but I think that was on my part. The trick is to hold the changing key in while selecting the numbers.
I really like this Brink's 50mm Long Shackle Bottom Resettable Dial Padlock I have had many locks in my lifetime and none were as good as this one. It is made out of such good material that it could not be sawed off by anyone trying to break it. I like that it has a combination for the lock on the bottom of it that is very easy to reset and I can reset it any time that I want to. Usually a combination on a lock is more difficult to remember how to reset so I never am able to but with this one I can which is huge for me.I like that it is long so I can use it for many things I want to lock up that are further apart. It also is a very good looking lock, it does not look or feel cheaply made and I am impressed by everthing this lock has to offer.
If you are looking to secure something, this is the lock to get! This is one serious lock, I truly have never used anything like it. It is fairly heavy in your hand, I suggest you do not drop it on your foot or anything because it could cause some big pain. I really like how long the neck? of the lock is. I have it on an exterior gate, but because the combination is at the bottom of the lock, you need the long neck to be able to tip it up to see the numbers to put in the code. At first I thought I got a bad lock because I couldn't open it, then my husband calmly showed me that you have to push the neck down a little and let it go to open it. It comes with a little key attached so you can set any code you like. It was super simple to do and it took seconds. In my photo you can see it on my gate (which used to be kept shut with a piece of rope) and I am positive that the gate and the wall will come down before anyone or anything can get through this lock. My husband has already gone out and purchased 8 more to secure everything from a tool box in his truck bed, to more gates, other properties, other doors, a cabinet that contains pool equipment and supplies, a cover over a classic car and I have no doubt that there are many more of these locks in my future. They are pretty amazing.
The Brink's 50 mm long shackle bottom resettable dial padlock seems like it is sturdy. I love the fact that is a combination lock that you can set yourself and you don't depend on a key. I put this on a storage building that we only open a couple of time a year. Locks we used before had keys that got lost because they were used so seldom. The materials that the lock is made of I think are durable. The only problem I have with the lock was setting the combination. I followed the directions but it took five or six tries to set it. Once set it was fine. I don't know how durable it will be outside but time will tell.
Easy to set combination, hardened shackle and brass covered mechanism. Lock will fit up to a 2 inch opening. After rotating the numbers from the opening sequence it will lock. Prefer this type of lock rather than keyed type.
The Brink's 50mm shackle bottom resettable dial padlock seems to be a sturdy padlock. It locks securely and the materials feel durable. I like the way you can set the lock to any combination you would like, especially since our family tends to lose keys that aren't used often. I put the lock on our Christmas storage building. My only problem with the Brinks lock is in the setting of the combination setting. once it's set it works great but it took me several tries before I was able to get it to set. I followed the directions but it didn't work until about the fifth or sixth try. I don't know about how the Brinks lock will weather outside as I haven't had it long enough.
It has some good safety features. Like the combination and the thickness to it. Easy to move the dials and remove or replace it. There is one feature I think they need to replace it the pin hole to reset it, that makes it unsafe if your trying to keep something safe.
Looks study but have had on gate and chain for approximately a month and can only turn 1 dial. The numbers are almost all inoperable. Now the shackle has clear corrosion as well. Only useable outdoors if weather protected.
