Helps alot better than any medicine i have bought. Total shame it was discontinued.
This product helps me breathe easy because of asthma. I am not certain, I can purchase BRONKAID without a prescription.
I am a lifelong asthmatic. I have been using Primatene/Bronchaid since "1970"; I am now 70 y/o (whichever one is available because the latter was pulled by the Boards of Pharmacy; they want to limit you to the prescription brands like Montelukast/Singular which runs between $125.00 and $250.00 for a thirty day supply). No heart issues, no B/P issues, no psychological disorders (unless you talk to my wife), I am physically active indoors and out which is where Bronchaid helps me. I have exertional dyspnea and Bronchaid allows me to continue my work and/or play.
I use bronkaid for other reasons. Cutting weight and energy. Bronkaid is the only way to get ephedra now a days. Mix is some caffeine, bronkaid and advil and you got what we call ECA Stack. Caffeine can be anything from coffee to pre workouts, ONLY 1 bronkaid, the advil is for the headaches if you are prone to them(you will be if you never done this before). it's a great and cheap way to have a good weight loss.
I'm 64 years old and have taken Bronkaid for almost 58 of them with no problems, no side effects, and fabulous relief. Why they've pulled the epedrine/guaifenesin combo from OTC sales is beyond me. "Big Brother" "watching out for our health." Go find some real drugs to worry about. This isn't one of them, and it is the only product to provide real relief for asthma. All of the prescription drugs I've been provided by various doctors do not work.
This is the only over-the-counter bronchial-dilator that works for me. Usually once a year I catch a cold or flu. The symptoms come and go, but the dry cough and difficulty breathing sticks around for weeks after. It's a pain and makes it difficult to go to bed. It's not so bad that I can't breathe, but it's more difficult at night. I was diagnosed years ago with COPD. My doctor prescribed inhalers and a nebulizer, but he knows I use Bronkaid and has no problem with it. The inhalers don't work that great and the nebulizer is clunky and has to be cleaned every time. I take the Bronkaid when I need it and I'm fine, much easier.
Who ever wrote that it does not contain guaifenesin has lost their mind. They made it illegal to sell without guaifenesin. So that person clearly its nuts. Actually i believe they upped the amout in these, if its now 400mg. vs 200mg guaifenesin it used to be. But in any case. I would rather without the mucus producing stuff, but what can u do. Its the usual if you have been purchasing in the last 20 years, dunno what i could add that would be helpful, other than that producing more mucus is not really wanted. Dunno why someone sait it was discontinued. I have not heard that. and its still available so.
Primatene tablets and Bronkaid recently both fell under a new federal guideline that requires them to remove the expectorant from their products. Bronkaid has already readjusted their product and it is on the shelves containing only Ephedrine while primatene tablets new formula will not hit the shelves until mid February I learned after speaking to manufacturer. I also learned It wasn't recalled (many pharmacies told me it had been) so there may be a store out there selling the old product still until they run out of past supplies. I take this regularly for a few years now for asthma it always worked better and was cheaper than prescription medication. It does not now but there is a way to get close to the original. I purchase the bronkaid that's just Ephedrine and also the guaifenesin 400mg tablets taking one of each product at the same time. This works as well, if not better than the original. Unfortunately the cost is now higher. I recommend buying a larger package of the expectorant due to inability to find them in some stores. I'm not sure if it is due to the government policy that stops medications from some countries or if most stores only sell the stronger version extended release. (The extended release doesn't work as well for me). Buying them separately is the only way you will get the same effect if you are an asthma sufferer, since asthma needs both the dilator to open lungs and the expectorant to loosen and remove mucus caused by the inflammatory response to whatever triggered the asthmatic attacks. Since I have been taking these ingredients my asthma has not been exasperated and I haven't needed treatment for bronchial issues or pneumonia. Hope this is helpful to anyone who like me have been on the search for the original products.
Bronkaid no longer has guaifenesen, contrary to a review that says it does. they removed the ingredient however they still charge the same amount! The guaifenesen was probably the most expensive ingredient. Yes the government did require them to remove the guaif. Unfortunately the website for Bronkaids is deceptive and they still show the old packaging. the site needs updated. All new packages have eliminated the statement about phlegm. because it does work like that anymore! I emailed the company regarding the removal of Guaif. bronkaid use to be amazing. now the formula has changed and it doesn't contain guaifenesin and doesn't work anywhere near like it did. I emailed then and they say a law changed so they had to reformulate it but primatene still sells a product that contains everything bronkaid did but its less mgs. If they want to keep their business they need to reformulate it closer to what it was. they won't last long selling this crap.
