Easy set up! Very user friendly! Has more features then I will ever use! Great price!
I purchased this machine about 10 years ago and have recommended it to several people. I love this machine! I make about 20+ quilts/projects a year and it is great! I love that it has speed control, it makes it so much easier to free motion quilt with it. I would easily buy this machine again for myself or as a gift. If I could give this machine 10 stars I would.
The machine was well packed and arrived in a timely manner. It was easy to set up and I made my first button holes for the quiet book shown.I love the drop down needle and drop in bobbin feature. It does come with a manual, but I find lots of video tutorials online videos to be most helpful. Also very easy to remove bobbin case for cleaning.
I am posting this review as part of my entry in Walmart's Holiday Sewing Contest. I've owned quite a few sewing machines and hands down this is my favorite. The CS6000i is a surprisingly sturdy machine that can handle just about everything from spandex to lightweights to some upholstery. It comes with so many accessories that you probably won't need but the walking foot is an absolute lifesaver when sewing stretch fabrics. It works by moving feed dogs above the fabric as well as below, ensuring an even and stable stitch without fabric bunching. Bunching is a miserable issue I have struggled with for years; not once has this machine ever given me problems!!! This is a wonderful machine for beginners. The automatic bobbin winder, needle threader, and easy to use bobbin case make this machine ideal for anyone just learning how to sew. By taking advantage of the lettering system on the numerous feet, beginners never have to worry about trying to find the proper foot for the job. Below is a sample of my work, modeled by me. This dress was made for an independent fashion and design photoshoot at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. (That's just a fancy way of saying I love to sew unusual things with unusual fabrics and my friends and I like to take pictures in pretty places.) It's made from neoprene and heavy vinyl. It's a bit hard to tell but the white vinyl is actually appliquéd to the neoprene!!! To my absolute surprise, this machine handled it perfectly!!!! Even the fur trim was sewn on with no problems. If I had tried this with my old Kenmore, my poor machine would have given up halfway through. One tip for sewing fur or other thick material; take advantage of the machine's automated features. By pressing the arrow button located on the neck of the machine, you can set to stitch automatically. This is a lifesaver for keeping even stitches while sewing heavier fabric which maybe require a bit more cajoling that usual. Don't forget the backstitch, which is also automated!!! I have yet to throw a problem that the CS6000i can't solve. It's easy to use for beginners and just feature-rich enough to satisfy people with experience sewing. I've recommended it to multiple people both for it's price and how incredibly sturdy it is. If you're looking at a new machine, I guarantee you'll be extremely happy with this one.
Love my Brother CS 6000i Sewing machine so much that it is always set up and ready for use for sewing projects after sewing projects. Have used it for making clothes, clothes alterations, curtains, aprons, quilts, doll clothes, pot holders, mug rugs, coasters, table mats, table runners, and many other different craft items. I leave the table extender on the machine all of the time... I'm involved with some fabric and sewing swap groups whereas many of my sewn items end up in other states and other countries. We even do the "Secret Santa" thing annually in them, whereas, we make and exchange items that we hand make ourselves with each other. I also belong to a sewing group that works on holiday gifts all year round, preparing for the annual December holidays. If you visit some of my neighbors you might even find some of my hand made items in their houses too. As a senior citizen, I'm afraid that you won't always find me sitting in front of a TV set in a rocking chair or the like all of the time. However and instead, you'll most likely find me sitting in a chair at a table that has my Brother CS600i perched on top of it in the senior complex that I live in, and sewing away holiday gift items all year round... Below is a photo of a 3 piece matching set which consist of an all purpose/beach/grocery/shopping bag that is large enough to put my sewing machine in, plus a small draw-string bag, and a quilted sewing machine mat that goes under a sewing machine. All of them went to another crafty lady in one of the sewing/fabric swap groups that I'm involved in. Also included a second photo of a small quilt that I made for my granddaughter for Christmas last year. Sewing is a fun-loving hobby for me, at 76, that keeps me gift making all year round, that my Brother CS 6000i makes more enjoyable because of it being easy to operate plus it coming with that extended table attachment that very seldom comes off of my sewing machine, even when not using it when quilting small pot holders and mug rugs to mini lap size quilts.
Sewing has become a joy with this brothers sewing machine. So easy to use. No more fighting with the bobbin, threads and stitches. I LOVE making button holes and attaching buttons. From alterations to decro, to embrodery, you can easily do it with this mashine. I embrodered the edge of a wedding veil in 45 minuets with the touch of 2 buttons!!!!THIS MACHINE WILL KEEP YOU SEWING!!!!
I was so happy when I recieved my sewing machine. I made my son's halloween costume on it and it performed wonderfully. It also came with a lot of accesories. A quilting foot, bigger work area attatchment, extra bobbins, stitch remover and various other helpful items. I just love it!
I bought this sewing machine about two months ago and sew almost everyday on it. I have been making blankets for foster children as well as mats for the children in Haiti which means I have used a variety of fabrics as well as thickness and use of batting. I use the walking foot from my other Brother machine and it too works great on this machine. This is my second Brother sewing machine and I absolutely love it! It is easy to use and I have enjoyed it so much! I highly recommend this machine whether you have been sewing for years or just beginning. All of the features are very user friendly. This is by far one of the best machines that I have had as well as being reasonably priced.
I'm very new to sewing. This is actually my first machine! I used to practice on my grandmother's Brother when I was younger (she's had that machine forever). I really like the little upgrades like the needle threader, easy bobbin winder, and the ability to press a button to back stitch and lift the needle. I've made about 25 burp clothes, a pin cushion, and a baby quilt with it and it handled it with ease! I'm very happy with it and hope to have it for a long time!
This machine was working great then after about 2 weeks maybe it's making a grinding noise as the needle is going down after you stop sewing. The space between the part where the light is and the part where the bobbin is is very low!!! I've sewn for years first machine ever like that.... second brother machine that I've had to send back in 3 months!!!!
