The cover is not hard as you would expect as with the older machines but it is acceptable and yes it does have a Styrofoam insert. I believe Brother sells the complete hard cover with attached bottom, this does not have the attached bottom the cover has and opening for carrying purposes which lines up with the opening on the machine for carrying. As for instructions, at first i was disappointed in the "little" instruction booklet that was taped to the machine but then I found the complete (in English) instruction booklet in plastic wrap in the box, clear and acceptable. I tested the machine to make sure the power worked. I have not used it to sew anything yet but I am not expecting any issues. Going to register the machine now with Brother in case of future issues.
My first sewing machine was a Brother. My husband bought it for me in 2000. When it died on Thanksgiving, I knew I needed another Brother machine. This one is super easy to set up. I never opened the manual, no need to. The 69 different patterns are such a bonus! The heart pattern is my favorite.
I bought this machine because my old one quit. It was 50 years old so not too shocking. This one is much lighter which is kind of nice. It runs smoothly. Of course very different from my old one but easy to use. The thing I love is the automatic threader. The instructions seemed easier to me than the video but both were helpful. The price at Walmart was better than other sites. I'm very pleased with my purchase.
Love this machine! Easy to use, love the 70 different stitches! Easy automatic threader. Love the non pedal option to sew. Easy bobbin winding, easy bobbin drop in. Not for beginners as the instructions are advanced as well as the machine but for experienced such as I, it's a must. I have 2 other machines, one is a brother and this machine has quickly became my favorite! Easy attachable quilting table. Quiet running. I mostly make heavy rugs and didn't think this machine would be heavy duty enough..but I was wrong. I love the extra feet, especially the walking foot. Highly recommend.

I used the single stitch, and it also has seventy stitches. It is computerized and easy to operate. It's also comes with ten included feet, which is for quilting. You remove the flatbed attachment by pulling left, also for those who got confused like me at first. It comes with 26 accessories, and it has 70 built-in sewing stitches, including decorative stitches and quilting stitches. The stitches are displayed on the side of it also. One of my favorite parts I've already grown to love since I'm Shakey is, the automatic needle threader. It comes in handy for multiple reasons, and can help older people or people who have disabilities that make them tremble or have problems using their hands. It also comes with the foot control pedal. It has a LCD display, which is nice for dim rooms too. I love the fact it has a case, or also known as a "protective hard cover" that goes over it to protect the machine. It's very easy to set-up and use, and not only that but it also helps grow your skills! This means it's also great for classrooms. TIP: In the instructions is a QR code You can scan on your phone and download an app to have help if you should need it which is also comforting since people sometimes have problems understanding instructions or may not understand something. The extra assistance is nice to have, and reassuring that the company cares.
I am so happy I was able to purchase the newest sewing machine in the CS line! The design is so sleek and modern! The accessories it comes with are a plus! I have the CS6000i but I had to get this one since it comes with more built in sewing stitches like the heart stitch I have been looking for. This is going to be my go-to machine for my mask making. Always a fan of Brother products and their product support.

I am a beginner and my Mom is teaching me how to use it and so far it has been pretty easy to use. My Mom who is very experinced with sewing and quilting was super impressed and said,"Oh it's beautiful!" when she first saw it!
Well it has been many, many years since I sewed on a sewing machine. The paper directions are OK, I was able to follow them somewhat but was very frustrated when setting up the machine and doing some practice stitches. The tension was off and I couldn't figure out where in the paper directions how to adjust it. Thank goodness they have the QR code on the front of the machine that allows you to pull up videos! If it wasn't for those I probably would have returned the machine!!! I was getting very frustrated and thought why did I buy this. I wanted to make Bread bags for gifts and didn't want to hand sew all of them. The sewing machine has been a life saver. I have given one bag already and my friend loves it. I have already decided to make some curtains for the living room and am brain storming other projects! Can't wait to do some more practicing to learn all of the other stitches available. I picked this machine as it is supposed to be a beginner machine but has many features and functions of a more advanced machine. I am sure as I continue practicing and sewing more it will be easier. My 17 yr old has also been wanting a sewing machine so I figured it was a good investment for the 2 of us....

I have not used a sewing machine for quite sometime (high school home ec class), so thank god for youtube to help me learn how to set it up. The directions were hard to read for a beginner, so I would recommend looking at youtube for assistance. Once I got it set up, it was fairly easy to use. I'm excited to try out all the stitching on the machine. It has a Qr code that also helped with set up! This is one of the best ones you can get out there with the amount of different options. Would definitely recommend this one to a higher level of sewer than myself but all and all was a good product. It also came with an extra wide table that would be good for quilting or larger projects.
