This is a great machine and I would recommend it to anyone wanting an embroidery machine. I would like to see some videos explaining some things about this machine. I am learning alot from the PE770 which is similiar. Can you use a larger hoop than the 5x7. Please let me know.
I am new to machine embroidery, and am not talented at hand embroidery. I am delighted to have a machine do the work for me. I finally resolved to try the machine after being prompted by this email. I was so nervous, and broke the needle first thing! After I changed the needle, I was fascinated to watch the machine work, and stop when it was time to change the thread. The image turned out perfectly and I look forward to many happy years working with this machine.
I love this machine! I have several Brother machines that I am very happy with. I love having the ability to see my designs come to life. Very user friendly.
I love everything about this machine. Sews beautifully. Thread is super easy to change for the auto threader. I can do it in about 15 seconds. It makes it so easy for those projects with lots of color changes. Just a great all around machine.
This is my first embroidery machine. I have had this machine for about three years and am completely happy with it. Some thread varieties have not worked well for me, such as Floriani, but Madeira, Gutermann, and Sulky are fine. I have never had a rat's nest in the bobbin. I use mostly third-party designs via usb. All have worked fine.Whenever I do encounter a problem, I look up the situation online (a valuable resource) and the problem is solved. The stitching is good, but be sure you have hooped properly. That is your responsibility. The on board designs are nice, but I'm more of an Urban Threads girl, so I don't use them often. All the hoops and guides are stable. The pack of stabilizer samples was a nice plus. The tools that came with it are excellent quality. I bought it because I wanted to digitize the family coat-of-arms and embroider it on placemats for my dad. He was delighted. When you can impress a 92-year-old with high standards, the machine must be a good one.
I did a lot of research on machines before purchasing. It came down between this one and the PE770. In retrospect I wish I had bought the PE770 since it was a few dollars cheaper (they're the exact same machine if you didn't know that) considering I haven't used any of the built in designs since they aren't my taste. But I'm overall pleased. I bought this machine to start a small side business. And 2 years later it is still going strong with this trusty machine hard at work! The machine only comes with one set of hoops, so if you're planning on using it back to back, an extra set of hoops is probably your most valuable investment you can make. I don't really have any complaints with the machine other than size limitations, but I knew that going into it since I needed an affordable option. Sure the machine can get a little finicky sometimes (tension, threads break occasionally, etc.) but overall it has treated me well. Since purchasing this machine I have learned to see and bought a brother sewing machine, also wouldn't trade it for any other brand. The next two big purchases will be the ScanNcut cm650w (it can cut your applique patterns for you!!! Time saver!) and the Entrepreneur PR655. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and love the easy to figure out features on all the machines I've used since I hate reading manuals. And YouTube is awesome for videos!
I have owned my DZ820E for about 18 months. I am using higher quality threads and it costantly breaks/shreds the thread even after a trip to the repair shop. I ended up taking off the thread guide and it is "better". I still would not try to emboidery something valuable or irreplacable. BTW, I am an experienced sewer.
