[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] “I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product.” 2020 was the first time I tried using a sewing machine when everyone was sewing face masks at home. The old machine that I used was heavy, clunky and difficult. I've seen Brother sewing machines for years on Project Runway, so I was excited to actually try one out for myself. The NS80E sewing machine is super light weight, around 14 pounds. It's also pretty small so it's easy to put away and store. I had to read the directions the first few times before I got used to the machine, but it is fairly intuitive and the digital LCD is easy to understand. There are 80 stitch patterns to choose from and the built in speed control makes sewing a lot easier than old machines. It also has multiple one-step button hole styles. The threading system is super easy once you've done it a few times and there are easy to set options for the stitch width and length. I'm definitely not a pro with sewing machines, but this model makes it really easy learn for beginners. I'm sure more advanced sewers will pick it up even quicker than I did.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so excited to use this machine and see what awesome crafts I can create with it. It has a good variety of stitches that we make a beautiful hem. I set it up and threaded and it was very easy to thread the needle. It has a great option that let's you control the speed of the fabric threader. This will a machine that I can see me using for a lot of future projects.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a GREAT Sewing machine for the price and being a male in my 50's it was very easy to set up and use. I was able to take care of so many of my sewing needs and more with this machine and lets not forget about all the different stich patterns.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from brother in exchange for my honest opnion/review of the product. I love this sewing machine it has so many unique stitching options and very easy to use. Me being a beginner I love the automatic needle threader. The stitch in the ditch foot is very helpful when quilting on this machine. It has a dial stitch pattern selector with a very nice LCD display screen. This machine is so easy to transport lightweight and has a carry handle. Beside the speed control which allows you to sew up to 850 stitches per minute, it has 80 built in stitch patterns and 8 one step buttonhole styles and it is in auto size. This machine is a well-built and very versatile great for the beginner or the expert. I would recommend you definitely check out this machine you won't be disappointed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a computerized sewing machine, there is no need to use the foot controller all the time. It depends on what you want to sew. There are three adjustable speeds with a speed controller. You can choose from 80 stitches including decorative stitches, satin stitches and cross-stitch stitches. However, there are no character stitches. The machine has a built-in thread cutter. A LCD displays the presser foot to use, the stitch number, the needle position setting (with one or two needles), the stitch length, and the stitch width. Seven foot pressers are included. The thread tension can be easily adjusted for different types of fabric. It is fairly light, so easy to transport or move around. I am not a professional seamstress, so I can only use the machine to sew basic things and this sewing machine is fantastic. With time, I will learn to do more things because there are so many options and functions. I wish there were character stiches so I can sew names.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. This machine is easy to set up except for threading the top thread. I googled and found a clip that showed me what to do and now that's simple too. The LED lighting with this machine is wonderful. I was sewing in a dark room tonight but had no problem seeing what I doing.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest review/opinion of the product. My husband insisted on being the one to unpack, set up, and use the sewing machine first! He did every bit of it in less than 30 minutes and was very proud of himself! I cannot wait to finish up some projects!
I bought this.machine while i was having my big machine serviced. I love sewing on it! I has all the bells & whistles that I will ever use but still very simple to operate. Perfect for traveling!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this NS80E sewing machine free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion of the product. I must say that for someone new to sewing, this unit is a bit overwhelming, but in a good way. First off, I have "older" eyes, so the self threader is an amazing feature, and it worked every time. There are small diagrams right on the machine to show you which way to loop the thread which is really nice. This machine offers 80 different stitches which you can also customize in length and width. The stitch options are clearly displayed on the unit so I am not sure what the extra plate with the same diagram is for. Maybe just an option for better placement? There are so many different accessories that come with this machine, it may take some time for me to use them all. Oh so many different feet too (ZigZag, Overcast, Zipper, Button Hole, Monogram). Again, I am pretty new to sewing so I didn't realize you needed a different foot for each task. They are pretty easy to switch out though. There's also a handy little compartment right in the front of the machine to store all these accessories which is pretty convenient. This machine is fairly lightweight and the handle makes for easy transport. I am pretty excited about getting to use the double needle - I will be able to get creative and use two different colored threads in my crafting projects. So far I have only tried about a dozen or so of the stitches, and I had no difficultly with the machine at all. I did hem up some fairly thick and quilted winter pants and the needle went through it as though it was single layer fabric. I thought for sure it would jam up or something, but it didn't. Using this machine has been a breeze, and I look forward to using all the bells and whistles on this machine as I learn more. I did a quick internet search, and there are also many tutorials already online showing different techniques. Sometimes seeing a video of what I want to accomplish is easier than reading a manual. I feel this machine a is great investment as it gives a novice room to grow without having to upgrade after mastering the simple skills.
Other than being a little on the noisier side, this sewing machine has been perfect for my paper piecing class. I also love the 1/4" foot! It is so accurate! I purchased this machine to use when I go to quilt classes and so far, it has been exactly what I was looking for!
